at 16:00 today CBeebies were scheduled to show Big Cook Little Cook but instead transmitted the CBBC programme Mona the Vampire.
I was most definately still watching CBeebies as the dog was still in the corner but showing a programme from CBBC!

After about five minutes the programme switched!

Does anyone know how the wrong programme can be broadcast on an incorrect tv channel? Has this ever happened before?

Aren't CBeebies links & output recorded. So if they are played out from a nearby gallery to CBBC, surely they could cross over, couldn't they?

Yes they're pre-recorded in a studio and played out from the same place (same playout server in fact) as the programmes.

As to how the above could happen - there will be some sort of switching device (a router) between the room/suite/facility/computer that is playing out the channel and the line that goes out eventually to the outside world. If someone clicks on a mouse and connects the wrong room/suite/facility/computer to the wrong out-going line... then you get the wrong programme on the wrong channel

On a small diversion off topic, anyone catch the Ceebies promo today with the old schools version of Popcorn?

Would the DOG not be added before this router though?

Maybe not, I think News 24's is (or was at one time) added quite far down the chain

I'm 90% sure it's the Hot Butter version, but it might be a very close copy!

I wouldn't remember the Hot Butter version being so young Mulder! Wink

It is possible for the output of one channel's suite to be transmitted on another channel, but in this case the automation system which runs BBC ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR, CBBC and CBEEBIES played the wrong programme from server. All programmes are on the same system now - before it played Mona the Vampire it played the start of Flog It!

Anyone spot the problem at the beginning of the Rotters Club on Wednesday?

They started to play the Paramount logo, before realising their mistake & switching back.

One of the Rocky films was being shown that night. Did it have something to do with that ?

No the logo was from Beverly Hill Cop II.

I've heard a BBC One announcer say "This is BBC TWO" over one of the balloons before now, so anything is possible! Wink
