Well believe it or not, it actually DID start with B2 way back in February 1981. A brief recap:
February 1981: I thought I heard my teacher at primary school say B2, thinking it meant BBC2.
Autumn 1986: My fourth year at secondary school, I expanded it to B1 = BBC1, B2 = BBC2, I1 = ITV, I2 = ITV2, and the other boy in my form was miffed by it.
18 Feb 2006 at 23:24 I by launched the thread TV Channels: A Shorthand Code on Digital Spy Fourms. Go check it out, just for proof of the pudding. This was my first time of going public with the coding scheme.
So you see, I did NOT start it just a couple of months ago, it goes back further in time than that.

A Virgin Trains train at Llandudno station? For your information, I went to Llandudno for four days holiday back in March this year. I travelled up during the daytime on Sunday 25 March 2007, and returned home during the evening of Thursday 29 March 2007. During the holiday I visited the Great Orme (walked up and down it, went for a guided coach tour around it), Rhyl and Prestayn, Conwy Castle, Caernarfon Castle, and Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

Frankly I feel shocked and dismayed that Mr Tower wasn't even able to tell us the class of Virgin Train (Voyager or Pendolino), let alone the individual carriage numbers along with a proposed new numbering system for them.
Careful, he got VERY annoyed when someone asked the same question on DS.. it's obviously a touchy subject. Oh and I believe he was banned from there for flying off the handle at someone rather than the awesomely bizarre content of his posts, which is much less amusing.

Anyhow, as far as my codes go, the last time I went through the Sky EPG was in February this year. At the time I allocated codes to as many channels as I could, and posted the list is on the TV Channels: A Shorthand Code thread (post 460) of Digital Spy Forums.
My reason for going through it again last Sunday (15 July) was to get an up-to-date list. Boy, hasn't the Sky EPG changed a bit in five months! Some channels have disappeared, e.g Discovery Wings (DW), Discovery Kids (DK), Solent TV (no code), and a few new ones have appeared. Why do they keep chopping and changing on Sky? It's a job keeping up to date it. It means having to review my codes every so often.
