Was going to pop this in CITV thread but decided to do a new one as this is CBBC stuff... so any discussions of TSS, Mysti, Smile, Dick & Dom etc can go here...
SMILE: Former Smile presenter Devin "DJ Devstar" Griffin is to take over weekend breakfast on 1xtra. He currently hosts a Saturday lunch show with Reggie Yates (who will join Dev on Saturday mornings, whilst continuing to host Smile on Sundays) - source: report on teletext recently
MYSTI: Anyone else noticed the recent changes to the Mysti Show? The magazine segments no longer come from the Heath (the fairy home world), but are they now saying they're coming from the Vent (Earth nitespot, in reality the Heath with some slight set/lighting changes)? Also there is now a 'coming up' menu halfway through the show, and the Battle of Elbbub now appears around halfway through the show rather than at the end. (This follows the recent reformatting of Elbbub with new rounds).
Also, here is a brief guide to the quite confusing makeup of BBC kids morning shows since 2001.
Autumn 2001
Live & Kicking ends on BBC1, replaced by The Saturday Show (v1 with Joe Mace & Dani Behr)
BBC2 at this time is doing CBBC Links on Sundays
February 2002
CBBC Channel launches. TSS Extra begins, initially same times as BBC1 show. Smile begins Sundays 9-12 on CBBC Channel. No change to BBC1/2.
Summer 2002
TSS graphics/studio change but Behr & Mace remain. Over the summer TSS is broadcast from Glasgow.
September 2002
TSS relaunch on its return to London: v3 presenters are Fearne Cotton and Simon Grant. TOTP Saturday begins as a strand within TSS. Tiny & Mr Duk and Stamford Amp leave. TSS Extra reformatted as 1-hour show on CBBC Channel from 12-1. Smile moves from CBBC Channel to BBC2 and its start moves earlier (initially 0830, later 0800 and then 0730). Dick & Dom begin on CBBC Channel Sat & Sun from 9-12.
Summer 2003
TSS Extra dropped. Dick & Dom go on holiday, replaced by links. TSS (from Glasgow) and Smile (from London) continue.
Sept 2003
Dick & Dom return: Sat on BBC1 & CBBC Chl, Sun only on CBBC Chl. 9-11 both days. TOTP Saturday runs as a seperate show 11-12. Smile as before.
Summer 2004
Dick & Dom on holiday so TSS v4 from Glasgow (current lineup) and the Mysti Show launch (TSS on BBC1, Mysti on BBC1 & CBBC Chl). Smile continues on BBC2 and launches the extra section on CBBC Chl (simulcast 1000-1030, Chl only 1030-1100).
