Shown as 1992 on poll. We left the Broom Cupboard and moved into a nice new big studio.

Yellow and black was now on the menu, and many more elements were introduced into the set.

I've just been thinking, I wonder if those video screens were the same ones - the video screens in Studio 9 were certainly the same ones used in Studio A, shortly before the move they moved the screens down to Studio 9 (where they were positioned in the shape of a 9).

Very reliable screens though I can only remember them breaking once or twice, I remember one one occasion they stuck a big yellow foot on a broken screen.

I was thinking about that. I definitely remember them being positioned like that, I just couldn't remember when; if anyone could remind me...

When they first moved into Studio 9 in 1997 - they also had an odd 9 sha p ed sofa and some odd time machine (but I never understood the point of that).

Yeah I remember the time machine too. I don't remember them using it much though...

Also, what was Studio 9 used for prior to CBBC taking over?

Did it go straight from make-up to CBBC, or was someone else i there before them?

Also, how many programmes were there in TC2 at one time?

I think there was...
- CBBC Presentation
- Xchange
- Various versions of Newsround
- Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow
- UK Top 40

Don't forget about Nelly Nut too which also came from TC2 - a booth in the gallery was used for the live voices...

well you have kind of merged the yellow era sets into one catagory. when cbbc was in Studio A the had another relaunch of the set which included a stack of moitors, a sunken area and raised area for the cards, almost like two floors. Then they moved into tc9 with a new set although it wasnt that colourful and loud and used the studio more as a feature itself. This era included a time capsual which was short lived and a 9 shaped monitor wall, eventually this all morphed over time as it was tweaked slightly. The next change after that as the bright bright yellow era you have in your photo quite a good set IMO but it wasnt around long as the channel then launched.

If I remember correctly there were quite a few different encarnations of the yellow set, one being just a red sofa in front of a white wall covered in the logos of CBBC shows.

I used to love the way they went in the garden in the summer, that's going to be missed if they stick with this CSO set up. In fact my favourite era with regards to presentation was when Ana Bolton was there. CBBC HOT was great....those were the days!!

CBBC has had in-vision continuity for all of its on-air presentation, right from the beginning, way back in 1985 with the broom cupboard.

Can I be a pedant and point out that the lunchtime BBC2 slot (the slot that used to be branded See-Saw and before that Watch With Mother) used to be done with the CBBC symbol but standard OOV continuity from the duty announcer.

Have to say I'm surprised by the results of the poll, but I wonder if that reflects the fact that quite a number of TVF members probably don't remember the broom cupboard and how fab it was?

The broom cupboard was fab....for its time. But the days of HOT were far superior CBBC to me was a programme in itself. Loosing IVC is a great loss to the channel. Oh by the way as far as i remember the res sofa in front of the white wall was just one corner of the old c9 set. well i say set but as i mentioned before orgionaly one of the main features of tc9 was its lack of set dressing, the programme names were just placed onto cupboard door presumably hiding equipment. Remember the old reception area they used to show with the telephone area and the rocket shaped seat! my personal favourite had to be the virtual reality chamberthat must have lasted all of 6 months!

Yeah, sorry, I'm not too familiar with that era of sets. Are there any captures of all these various different versions?
