Right - bit of a poll.

CBBC has had in-vision continuity for all of its on-air presentation, right from the beginning, way back in 1985 with the broom cupboard.

Since then it has had all sorts of sets. 9 monitors stacked in a three by three square, brightly-coloured bone shapes, plasmas, and a quite frankly uninspiring badly-designed CSO background.

The question is, which was/is best?

The small continuity suite, dubbed the Broom Cupboard. A place where the presenters had to have a personality, because there was not much between them and the viewer.

1994 -

Shown as 1992 on poll. We left the Broom Cupboard and moved into a nice new big studio.

Yellow and black was now on the menu, and many more elements were introduced into the set.

Plasmas one of the highlights of this all singing, all dancing new studio based in TC2 at the time of the launch of the CBBC studio.

CBBC Channel Presentation moved back into TC9 in a slightly tweaked set...

And a completely new set was siuated in TC10 for CBBC ONE/TWO

The year started off in those sets, then in April, TC9 had a new brightly coloured set with strange bone shapes and half-dome things. I can't find any images of this. If somebody could provide me with these, I would be very grateful.

CBBC studios ceased to exist from December 2006, and was replaced with a green screen background.

Now, I appreciate that the dates are probably wrong, so if you could tell me I will change them.

And what about me? Well I reckon the 2002 set was the best. The 2006 CSO background was the worst.

Thanks,

What about the set that's been used this Christmas? It seemed to me as if they had taken a few elements from the now defunct TC9 set, and rearranged them in a corner of a studio somewhere. Do we know why this was the case yet? It would be good if they kept it, it's far better having something solid and real in the background even if it is in a tiny space.

The bumble-bee era started in 1997 not 1996, after the new BBC logo was introduced. it has to be this era for the best CBBC pres. the idents were clever and witty and the studio, complete with 9 television screens, looked fantastic. 2002 (the first bug set) in second with the worst being the new green screen set.

Studio A only became the full-time set in about 1994.

Also, how many programmes were there in TC2 at one time?

I think there was...
- CBBC Presentation
- Xchange
- Various versions of Newsround
- Dick and Dom in Da Bungalow
- UK Top 40

TC9 was used for the 2002 CBBC1 and CBBC2 studio, which was then ripped apart, rebuilt and painted which is your "tweaked" set but it wasnt tweaked, it was brand new Wink

CBBC1/2 (2002)

Yeah I know, but I thought that as they were so similar, they could sort of be merged into one...maybe... Smile

Yeah, but when that happened, everyone on here was complaining that it was not a new set, it was essentially the same. Albeit a lot of the actual stuff was new, but the same designs were used.
