CBBC Programme Promotions @ Prime Time

I thought nothing of it at first, then started to wonder and tonight I'm convinced. BBC1 in particular have started to get into the habbit of showing programme promotions for CBBC at prime time, usually the 8pm junction but not after 9pm.

What I'm wondering is should CBBC trailers be shown at this time. I'm not meaning to be a grumpy sod, but they do tend to last longer than normal programme promotions and are irritating to the older audience. While there are plenty of young viewers at this time, the majority are adults and therefore I feel the trailer is being shown to the wrong audience.

I don't have any problem with the CBBC trailers. Indeed they should be shown, but only late in the afternoon on a weekday when the main audience is children. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I going mad in my young age?

I found the strangest thing to be seeing CBeebies trailers at 11 O'clock at night and even after that on the odd occasion. I guess CBeebies do aim their trailers more at parents than CBBC do, but I still thought it was unnecessary at that time of night.

Do parents of young children not watch TV at night?

I was about to suggest that and say that because its a CBeebies trailer doesn't mean its necessarily aimed at the kids. I reckon it'd be surprising the number of (working) parents who don't know that there even is a CBeebies/CBBC channel for their offspring to see if itrailers didn't crop up in the late-night junctions.

CBeebies I can understand, it's mostly the parents that make the viewing choices, but the CBBC trails in prime time annoy the hell out of me.

Yes, you're right. I suppose I was just not expecting it at the time, given the adult nature of the programmes that surrounded it.

Do 7-12 year olds not watch tv in prime time?

Yes, but they're in the minority. Most people watching are adults who have been working they're socks off all day, and have no interest whatsoever in children's progammes.

No, they've been shown during prime time (7-8pm) quite frequently over the past few weeks.
