Hi, considering CBBC has alot classic shows in their archives I think its about time the CBBC Channel done a Classic Shows weekend with all classic CBBC shows, maybe not too old and dated for the kids but atleast 5 or 6 years old.

I'd like to see all three series of 'The Demon Headmaster' as that was a fantastic series and well deserves a re-run, Aquilla was another excellent show but I'm not sure how many series there were either one or two. Maybe show some older episodes of Get Your Own Back with just Dave presenting.

Unfortunatly I cannot remember many older CBBC shows because I was more of a CiTV boy when I grew up so could anyone shed some light on what they would like to see or just the idea of a classsic show weekend?

Thanks,

On one condition - it's linked from the Broomcupboard, or whatever passes for one these days

Perhaps the ITV1 Presentation Office, that'll probably be the size of a broom cupboard now Laughing

Another condition - any 4:3 material must be shown as such.

On the CBBC Channel? You'll be lucky!

The strange thing is that they did it on the first day, aslong with some links when they didn't pull out in time.

I don't know why they can't switch, they are capable of doing so, and the CBBC Channel dog is 4:3 safe to do so, yet they never do, it's the same with CBBC1 & 2, and CiTV, they never do it, yet could.

Especially CiTV who don't have any in vision, it should be quite easy for them to do so, most probably easier than cropping everything.

I don't see why anything's cropped, even a 4:3 in a 16:9 is ok, the black bars either side don't usually bother me.

The excuse for cropping on CBBC1 and 2 is to allow the DVE effect on the end credits without a ratio jump mid programme.

Sorry I don't understand that, I presume you're talking about the credits squashing or swinging like a door, though I don't understand why they can't broadcast in 16:9 and have the 4:3 picture sat in the middle rather than cropping it.

If it gave us the opportunity to see a weekend of the shows that we grew up with and were fond of.... who cares what ratio it is in?

Well they could always let the credits run first. And if you cropped archive programmes in a nostalgia weekend it would completely ruin the nostalgia if you got less picture than when you first saw them.

It would be good in September,to go with the special if their is one!
I hope they do celebrate it somehow. WE HAD NO CELEBRATIONS FOR 30 YEARS OF ITV1 SATURDAY MORNING SHOWS LAST YEAR!
Unless they're doing it this year instead.

I'd like some old Going Live,Live and Kicking and TSS pre-last April. If they do have a classic shows weekend,it would be good if they had old idents at the beggining!
