Any news on an air date? Considering it's 45 minutes long it would have been good for ITV to give it the slot in the Dancing on Ice sandwich and a chance to establish itself, rather than give it to All Star Family Fortunes which could hold it's own either on Saturdays or later in the year.

I still think though with both Catchphrase and Family Fortunes they should keep them to 30 minutes and just film loads of them to prop up the schedules where they can - far easier to schedule than 45 minute versions (and even hour long versions) and realistically I'd say some classic gameshows in the 8.30pm slot on Thursdays vacated by Corrie are more likely to work in the long term than the sitcoms ITV are supposedly going to put there (but haven't yet!).

I'm going to a taping on the 10th January so it must be later on after that.

Not necessarily, they could be filming more episodes after the first one has aired. They can do several in a day and it'll only be airing weekly. So the 5th remains possible. Of course, if it is that soon, expect an advert this weekend.

Schedules are confirmed now through to the 18th of January and there is no sign of it, so Spring or Summer seems likely. It'll probably either be sacrificed against The Voice or be another one summer series wonder for Stephen Mulhern.

STV are doing a pretty p*ss-poor competition to win a trip to London to see the show being filmed. The prize is a train ticket and a hotel twin room on room-only basis. Woo! STV Website Link.

A promo is being aired for this contest on STV North, but seeing as the train will depart Edinburgh or Glasgow, the 'lucky viewers' may have to travel hundreds of miles before they even get to start their amazing trip down south.

I'm going to a recording of the new series of Catchphrase tomorrow evening. I went to the pilot recording back in August so it will be interesting to see if they've changed anything since the pilot.

It was much better than the pilot.

The set has been improved a bit since those pictures a few pages back. The opening titles seem to be based on the 1994 version and the theme tune is a remix of the first Roy Walker theme. The logo has been updated too.

Stephen does a good job of this and I could see it being very successful. There were no viewer competitions either.

The viewer comps are generally added afterwards now just going into a break - most the quiz shows don't tend to mention the viewer comp "live" in the studio, I guess to make it easier to edit them out for repeat runs.

At the pilot Stephen handed over to a viewer competition before the break which he didn't do tonight or after the main show had ended.

When competitions are featured, they are usually included as part of the recordings going into breaks, and they will normally record 2 different versions, one without the competition which can be used for repeats.

The new series of All Star Family Fortunes which started last weekend doesn't feature a competition either.

First time It airs someone will ask for that theme, B: Mr Welch will be asking for his Royalty cheque Laughing

Thanks for the update of the shows, sound like it will be good,

At todays recording they Stephen said that it will be on ITV1 in the summer. Bit of a long time until transmission though isn't it?
