Nothing confirmed properly yet but the Bullseye page on Facebook, which is reliable and official has put as their status that because of the success of Blockbusters on Challenge, ITV are going to bring back Catchphrase.
Just as long as there keep it 30min slot and not try to pad it out to 45mins etc. To be honest there mucked around with it in 2000 and that's what killed if off, crap host and studio, YUCK, what happened to MR chips

The new studio and graphics weren't bad, the previous set was in a 1980s timewarp. Heck even the theme tune wasn't bad. It was just the fact that Roy Walker left which made it fall apart. Why did Roy leave anyway?

He didn't leave, Carlton replaced him with Nick Weir, whom Carlton thought would be better for the new look show!

Agreed. Although I suspect if they bought it back now the set would have look more a modernised version of Roy's.

Quote:
ITV is in talks to bring back classic gameshow Catch Phrase for the first time in 10 years as it seeks to continue a strategy of reviving successful formats.
It is understood that the commercial broadcaster is discussing piloting the show, which is owned by DRG and was pitched to international broadcasters at MipTV earlier this year.
If a pilot is commissioned, it will be produced by STV Productions. The Scottish broadcaster’s production arm has an established relationship with DRG, which distributes Taggart and STV’s new Braveheart-style drama Wallace.
DRG has updated the original Pasetta Productions and Steven Radosh Catch Phrase format, introducing 3D graphics and a fresh end game.

Its either going to be Vernon Kay, Phil Schofield, or Ant and Dec - or even worse Jason Mamford or Dave Spikey!
I've read several times in the past that Roy would love to do it again, I wonder if they would consider him?

Well you know what ITV are like, they sue the same preseneters over and over and over again. Frightened of bringing in a "fresh" face!
