I agree. Nice arrangement. Always sounds better with real instruments.

The siren at the beginning had a mallet-like echo on. It was very hospital-y. I think it was its pristeness. It rang, echoed, then stopped. Then it rang, echoed, then stopped whilst also resembling a siren, and one of those heart-rate-measurer-thingys (what is the name of them :s?) with synthisised strings playing a little-melody in between. The first arrangement seems the most hospital-y. There is, in my opinion, at least, a very spider-y feel to it, which is camaflauged, by synth' strings. Real strings just boasts this, in my opinion. Not that spiders are bad, of course, it is just not a show about spiders Razz!

Eeek - what have they done?

Visually it looks rather too similar to ER for my liking - and the new arrangement just doesn't work for me. (Sounds a bit like the awful orchestral Five News stuff of a few years ago)

The original music was still the best for me. Although it was written in the 80s (same guy - Ken Freeman - did the music for The Tripods) it hasn't really dated for me. The late 80s / early 90s titles (they were partially from a patient's view and had that slight "bathroom glass" effect) worked well for me as well - very clean and crisp.

Having said that - the new titles do look quite "modular" - and it should be relatively easy to replace cast members in them.

Saw the new titles Saturday and dont like them - I agree the original theme was the best.

Why am I imaging Art critic, Brian Sewell saying that..? Laughing

...The Jeremy Kyle Show was also mentioned in the first episode too....

Some changes to the Casualty format tonight... now a preview montage pre-opening titles and a "next on Casualty" segment before the closing credits. Also, unless I seriously couldn't hear last week because of the announcer, they've added some backing bars to the closing theme as heard on the original closing music giving it a bespoke sound when compared to the opening song.

I think they may have done that to boost the running time and even then it only ran to approx 52 mins for an hour long slot

...and I noticed it started late, at around 8.07pm.... !!!

They had the 'nexk week' a few years ago. I saw that on the end of one episode that was repeated.

I have also noticed that they have returned the very old 'dum-dum-de-dum-dum-dum-dum' repeated pattern at the very end of the song, which repeate to the final note.

Yeh, that's the bit I meant. The final few chords that you used to get at the end of the original song now played over the last bit of the current closing song. Great stuff.
