Casualty doesn't appear to have taken its summer break this year - did they miss a few weeks during the year?

I watched a few episodes on Drama from 1995 and the contrast with now is staggering. Easy to follow and not dumbed down.

I think the rot started when they launched Holby City as a soapier spin-off when eventually Casualty also got after numerous changes.

In an ideal world, I'd love Casualty to return to a more sensible 26 episode run split over spring and autumn, yet it's too much of an important filler for the BBC.

They no longer have a summer break.

Just caught up on last weekends episodes. Gritty/challenging episodes do come around now and again and really stand out from the norm.

That's largely due to the failure of Eldorado. The BBC decided that they could morph Casualty into the "second" soap instead rather than risk another embarrassing failure.

Thankful some of the episodes stay true to the original Casualty.

I'm not a fan of Casaulty, But MovieMix (Freeview: 32) and More>Movies (Sky 185, Freesat 143) are showing it (almost) from the start, next Tuesday afternoon at 12.50pm.

They aren't - a similarly titled episode of Soldier Soldier will at that time, not Casualty .

Yes I did find out later on but it's still on various websites/tv magazines as Casualty.

Way off topic but you'd think they'd have decided on what to call the channel by now.

I suspect it has something to do with the allocation of the Freeview EPG number. They could have launched as More>Movies after Sony acquired Movie Mix, but would drop down the EPG.
