Depends what angle you're looking at it from. Looking at it for what it is- a show made to sell toys to 8 year old girls, maybe it's passable. But when you're watching it after hearing people go on about it like it's some well made masterpiece that has crossover appeal to match Animaniacs or Spongebob, then yes, it's bad.
I watched some episodes a few years back when if first got big because some people I talk to on the internet wouldn't shut up about how wonderful it was (not that watching it and telling them I didn't like it shut them up, and they're still banging on about the show 4 years later), and I cringed the whole time, even before they started singing. No, it's not that well written, no it's not well animated (it's fairly basic Flash that's only just above South Park level), it's just your typical sappy crap that I hated when I was a kid, let alone now I'm in my 20s!
I saw some more episodes earlier this year because my 4 year old niece is obsessed with it (though at least she's in the target age group) and it wasn't any better at all- even Q from Star Trek being in it couldn't make me forget how dire it was.
