Dan Wootton is a complete and utter d*ckhead. How dare he have the audacity to say ITV hung Caroline out to dry as if it wasn’t mainly him and the paper he works for that hung her out to dry. I have 0 respect for this horrible man.

He isn’t get much support in the comments.

We all know that if ITV had kept her on, he would have been at the front of the queue to criticise the move, in fact she would have received more abuse from the press as she would have still been in the public eye.

ITV should not be blamed and it’s hypocritical that Wootton is even suggesting it.

Whilst I'm not going to speculate what might have caused Caroline to end her life, I do feel it is a good time to think about what we, as individuals, can do if we are ever going though a tough time or are considering self harming or suicide.

The main thing to do in this situation is to talk to somebody you feel comfortable talking to. That can be a family member, a friend, a work colleague, or even somebody on here. Just talk to somebody. It won't be easy to start that discussion, but once you've started that conversation, it means that others can help. Alternatively, arrange an emergency appointment with your GP, or call 111.

You can also contact a support helpline, such as those listed below:

Samaritans

Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) - For men
Call: 0800 58 58 58 (Lines open from 5pm-midnight, 365 days a year)
Chat online: https://www.thecalmzone.net/help/webchat/

Papyrus – for people under 35
Call: 0800 068 4141
Text: 07860 039 967
E-Mail: pat@papyrus-uk.org
(Available from: 9am – 10pm weekdays, 2pm – 10pm weekends, 2pm – 10pm bank holidays)

Childline – for children and young people under 19

Finally, if you feel like your life is in danger, or have taken action to harm yourself, don't be afraid to call 999.

As I have subtly mentioned elsewhere on this site before, I am currently going through a tough time with my life, and it is clear that Caroline was going though different, but similar problems. Therefore, I feel it is a good time to ensure that you know what to do if you, or somebody you know is going through a rough patch in life.

I don't really have anything else to say, other than don't suffer in silence.

Rylan Clark-Neal appears to have taken the news hard, as the last quarter of an hour of his Radio 2 show was just non-stop music:

Lots of people pointing out Dan Wooton's hypocracy:

He was apparently responsible for a lot of the stirring and bad stories about This Morning and other ITV daytime shows too

You do get the impression that’s Rylan’s a decent guy.

I wonder if there is a deeper backstory to this? - such as if she'd recently been informed that ITV were dropping her completely etc. It will also be interesting to see what support her employer had offered.

I've never watched Love Island - others in my household do... it will be interesting to see if it can continue....

He’s a hypocrite, pure and simple but yet he’s awarded with a column in the Sun and a radio show.

I remember when he was on Lorraine and being horrible about Stacey Dooley and Christine Lampard called him out on it.

He’s had it in for ITV since they dropped him from Lorraine. I did think the only reason they kept him on was to keep him on side.

There has been all that stuff he’s attempted to whip up regarding Phillip Schofield, he will no doubt have a negative story about Ant McPartlin ready to go for next Friday or Saturday.

Not surprising at all, very tough to be on air and hear that news. Laura Whitmore is supposed to be presenting her show on 5Live tomorrow morning but would think she will probably miss it now
