Its a noble effort and one based on superb motives but I agree that there is a danger of potential abuse and manipulation. Still I believe its a fine tribute. A "Caroline's Law" could prevent future tragedies like this occurring.

Absolutely agree with you. All forms of harassment and bullying should be illegal both online and in the real world.

Apologies if it seems I'm rehashing the subject but the BBC are reporting a petition making online harassment and bullying a crime had been delivered to the government.I feel its an important development:

Unless I'm missing something here, why should only online bullying and harassment be a crime precisely? What about such behaviour in the real face to face world then?

It already is a crime?

Protection from Harassment Act 1997
Public Order Act 1986
Malicious Communications Act 1988

These pieces of law obviously predate a lot of the modern methods of communications we use today, but doesn't mean they exclude them. The CPS have a social media charging advice and standards document as well...

Hmm. I can imagine that government may use this as an reason to update the law.

If only the newspaper 'Regulator' took a more positive attitude in an attempt to stop the awful articles written which further encourage some appalling comments. Daily Mail and Express spring to mind...
