The team did great especially in the circumstances and pretty much everyone has said.

Tribute aside, production wise Iain's v/o was bare minimum stuff, telling us what we needed to know and nothing more. Tomorrow night will show the result of a public vote that opened at the end of tonight's episode. Presuming that is filmed tonight, that's a lot of footage skipped cramming maybe four or five days into two episodes which is probably the right call.

Tonight pretty much centered around the fluffy stuff rather than some of the bigger conflicts that can happen (even the ones featured had their edges softened IMO). Imagine it will continue in this style for the next week, which given its the last week anyway won't be a huge departure. Be interesting how they approach the final which is usually live from the villa, given that the contestants currently are unaware of the situation.

I suspect for the bit where the parents/family come in, the show may try and break the news gently to the contestants then (or have the parents mention it) otherwise it would be a bit of an elephant in the room during the final.

Surely they won’t do the prisoner dilemma ‘twist’ with the prize money this year either now?

I think the contestants being unaware is a bit of a red herring - they've probably never met Caroline, she's not been involved in this series, so their reaction will be more "oh, person off the telly has died" than "person we used to work with constantly has died" which is the situation for large numbers of the people behind the scenes.

Giving them the information may end causing more distress to the production team when it's discussed by the contestants, as well as potentially aggravating any personal situations the contestants may be experiencing. It may be an elephant in the room come the final, but that may be better than a load of gossiping or several contestants dropping out to get psychological help.

I don't think anyone here is advocating telling the contestants because of their connection - or lack of - with Caroline or so we can see their reaction. That simply won't happen, and from last night's episode it's likely the rest of the week will be very sanitised. It's probably inevitable though that the format of the final will have to be adjusted. I doubt it will go unmentioned, as it'll probably the only time Laura will appear on the show again this series and she will want to mark that in some way.

I wouldn't be surprised if the contestants are aware if something is amiss, as I get the impression there is more producer contact than something like Big Brother. As the day of the final itself is never really shown, I imagine any remaining contestants may be briefed then. I'd also go no audience, and maybe just Laura and the contestants in the villa themselves.

The no audience idea would work tbh as this is a huge tragedy the show is still coming to terms with.

Just a little mark of respect for Caroline by not including the audience will be a fairly noticable but poignant gesture.

I suspect pre-series they were warned not to talk about Caroline anyway due to the impending case.

All back to normal it seems tonight, normal ident, sponsorship bumper and jovial voiceover.

The contestants were told off camera in advance of the final tonight, which featured a short tribute to Caroline in the form of some of her Love Island moments (many of which involved giggling!)

It was also 'confirmed' by Laura that the show would return in the Summer in Mallorca

Also, the pointless split or steal was still present at the end, wish they would just get rid of that!

I notice the Unseen Bits episode from last saturday that was skipped has now appeared on the hub.

Apologies if it seems I'm rehashing the subject but the BBC are reporting a petition making online harassment and bullying a crime had been delivered to the government.I feel its an important development:

Although I understand that the people behind this petition mean well, I find such a concept quite dangerous. Twitter alone is full of people with varying opinions on what counts as harassment or bullying and I fear such a system would be quickly abused.
