After seeing the news about Caroline, I am truly heartbroken for her and her family. No one deserves to go through what she would have been feeling, coming from a place of experience I wish she got the support she needed. As well as this, I think ITV needs to have a look into the way in which they support their talent and make sure this doesn’t happen again.
One of the most powerful starts to any programme I have ever heard.
Hats off to Laura, and what she has just said on 5 Live.
The show is most definitely live.

Thank God I never went into Journalism as a career. I like being a human being.
That's unfair. There's a hell of a lot of journalists who are doing it for all the right reasons and help people. Admittedly, they don't work on the celebrity gossip desk at the gutter press, but then again, somebody needs to do that because that's what sells. The tabloids wouldn't produce the tat they do it there was a public outcry everytime they did.
Hard to see how the current series can continue as normal for the rest of the week in light of the circumstances. I can see tonight's show being pulled anyway, perhaps replaced with something in her memory.
Desperately sad news. It’s horrible to imagine how down someone must be feeling that they see this as the only way out.
I worry that Twitter in particular has become toxic. I can’t even begin to imagine how I’d feel if there was a website where people constantly commented on how I do my job, how I look, what I’m wearing, making jokes at my expense, but that’s what anybody even vaguely in the public eye has to deal with now.
Indeed while not related to Love Island, you just need to look at Twotter and the like where there’s a live football match and the amount of vitriol/abuse the presenters/pundits get is frankly shocking.
Many on Twitter should really take a long, hard look at how they behave. These days it’s a complete cesspit much of the time

Heartbreaking. Was horrible seeing the first responses to Laura's post last night basically blaming her for her death.

Quite incredible radio to listen to. Laura is a class act.
Have to say that a certain breakfast show on ITV should really consider how it operates as it is definitely feeds into and encourages the vitriol that is far too common online these days.
So does she do her radio show from wherever it is that Love Island comes from?
Nope. Love Island this series is filmed in South Africa and Laura has to in London for the spin-off show Aftersun on Mondays. The Love Islabd host only actually pops up in the villa every other week or so - for example at the start, if there’s a public vote (and even then not for all of them - some are done by texts), Casa Amor or if it’s the final

Do think this David Baddiel point is worth sharing.
