The Mrs Merton Show is on BBC One tonight after the news.

The episode with Debbie McGee, no less.

She was also a voice of Stephanie Bethany and Croydona Puttock in CBBC's Strange Hill High.

Craig Cash was actually the first voice of Gogglebox - Caroline took over after it started becoming really huge, and Craig started stepping in again recently presumably due to her illness.

I did think one night way of Gogglebox paying tribute would be to have the famillies watching the Mrs Merton repeat from Saturday, but it's the kids version at the moment so that wouldn't really work.

I thought it was just the case Craig Cash pretty much filled in from the start. And Cash did the sponsorship stings for a while. It's inserting you can have a male and female voice over but they both sort of feel like the same voice, I think that is because we associate them so closely with each other.

I was expecting to see some form of RIP caption at the end of the credits for Gogglesprogs or something from Channel 4 but nothing. There wasn't one after The Mrs. Merton Show repeat either. I wonder if they will have something on Friday's proper Gogglebox episode.

I have a funny feeling they won't reference it at all other than having a caption at the end. I'm hoping they'll prove me wrong.

Is there a Gogglebox on Friday? My listings say it's Gogglesprogs.

It would be nice to have a Gogglebox special where they watch classic Aherne moments - even better if they included some members of The Royle Family, although obviously that may take some time.

Ooh, apparently Celebrity First Dates is on instead. Didn't realise this run had finished.

I think you'd be pushed to get a whole special out of it. She's only really remembered for two things in addition to Gogglebox.

A little unfair, but Gold have managed to get a few compilation programmes out of The Royle Family alone.

Yes but you couldn't have a whole hour of Gogglebox with them watching Mrs Merton, Mrs Merton and Malcolm and The Royle Family. I didn't say what she'd done wasn't genuins just that there isn't enough unique work for it.

What would make more sense would be for them to do a special when they next do a full series where they look back at the TV of the summer and shoehorn in a 15 minute tribute that way.

We shouldn't forget her contribution to The Fast Show. There was also a funny but incredibly touching Granada/BBC documentary she made with Craig Cash called A Back Passage To India which followed the progress of a young boy that eventually had an operation to help him see - I'd love to see that again.
