YTV and Tyne Tees joint continuity comes from Granada - Granada idents appear if the other region fails to put theirs up on time. Likewise, Meridian joint continuity is from Anglia. So Meridian might see Anglia idents.
Anglia and Meridian messups in both continuity and localized trailers do occur fairly regularly, especially during the day, since the voiceovers are shared at that time anyway.
I don't think that it would be possible to spilt HTV, as it is against the ITC's regulations to have two names for one franchise.
Well yes but it would make sense for the ITC to make those changes, I can't think of any TV companies that would complain, other than possibly Granada to be awkward!

does anyone know who central take theirs from, or is it entirely done by themselves
Only the voiceovers - Granada put up their own ident, which YTV and TTTV cover up with their own, usually but not always, simultaneously.
That's not right. GMG closed down the Granada continuity suite in 1998. All Granada continuity comes from Leeds, as does Border and Tyne Tees. The only reason why you see Granada flickers on Tyne Tees and YTV (and presumably Border) is that Granada is the 'prime' station (it used to be Yorkshire until 1998) and if any of the other video servers fail for whatever reason they are flicked over to the Granada feed. But the video servers are all in a row of racks in TV Centre, Leeds. Which is why you occasionally see TTTV, YTV or Border stuff on Granada as well.
I only wish there was a voice-over system in place. That way we could go back to individual continuity announcers, especially in prime-time, who perhaps could also read the news to save money. For goodness sake, it worked for 3 years with the In-Vision continuity from Newcastle being controlled from Leeds!!! The petty-minded empire-building going on within ITV with regards this sort of stuff really gets on my nerves!!

Border used in-vision announcers during prime time who then read the Border News at 1030 right up until 1999. A much better system than we currently have saving money, being regional and ensuring no wrong announcements are made
Exactly what I have been saying. Tyne Tees had the same arrangement until 1996, when the evil branding nutters took over and we were lumbered with C3NE. The old methods were cheaper, more popular *and* created a stronger identity for the station.
Think about this one. In 1992 a survey was carried out which said that 82% of viewers felt that ITV in their region had a strong identity. In 1995 this had slipped, but only to 75%. Now it's 48% (a year ago). What does that tell you?

I personally haven't seen Anglia idents on Meridian but I have seen Anglia promos and promoboards on 'Ridi several times, but mainly when they were both owned by UNM, and less so now under GMG... but then I have been watching ITV1 and 'Ridi a lot less since I got Sky...
