This is because Carlton Westcountry is broadcast from Cardiff, isn't it?

If so I wonder if any HTV idents have made it to the South West?

I must admit though I'm surprised this happens. Even stupid Yorkshire TV manages not to put the wrong idents out. Flickers of other idents, maybe, but they obviously keep the video servers seperate, that can't be that hard surely?!?

Here in Granadaland, I have not seen any other idents transmitted by ' stupid ' Yorkshire. I have seen, however, Tyne Tees weather. Great for the north-west!Sad

It's happened a couple of times before, but the announcers have always said HTV and not Carlton.

What!?!? Carlton West Country is the region in South West England (i.e. Devon and Cornwall) so what the hell would they have to do with Cardiff (the capital city of Wales )?!?! - Carlton West Country comes from Plymouth!

The age-old colloquialism 'West Country' refers to Devon, Cornwall, Somerset, and Gloucestershire. So two different ITV1 regions are in the 'West Country' - Carlton West Country (formerly Westcountry Television) and HTV West (now owned by Carlton, but not renamed... yet ). Therefore both have a claim to using the phrase, but the Plymouth-based region got it first! So if/when Carlton renames HTV West it will probably have to be called Carlton West (as opposed to Carlton West Country )

Although the Bristol-based region (HTV West) have been beaten to using the phrase 'West Country' as part of their official company/channel name, they can obviously use it verbally in the context of a colloquialism (e.g. A HTV News presenter would be both within their rights and not inaccurate to describe the bulletin as The news for the West Country )

Westcountry continuity comes from Culverhouse Cross, Cardiff. Or at least it used to, I'm not quite sure what the situation is now.

The contiunity announcer always used to sit in Plymouth but everything was played out/controlled in Cardiff.
I'm not sure what happens now that they're part of Carlton - that was in the day when they were a separate company.

I saw an Anglia ident on Meridian.

I saw a Granada ident in a fade on Tyne Tees.

HTV West used to make a programme called West Country Farming, years before Westcountry Television came into being.

The HTV West and Carlton Westcountry regions would be a far more logical dual region than Wales and the West. Perhaps Carlton could reorganise things, keep HTV for Wales, but introduce Carlton branding to the West.
