It's the only arm of ITV that will for sometime to come retain the Carlton name, they're keeping it as it is very profitable and as said their only other major competitor is Pearl and Dean.
Though it's still going strong and that huge poker with the star still comes in your face at the cinema, and IIRC it has been around sometime before the Carlton hearts came on air.
went to the cinema today, I noticed that carlton screen advertising was still there, why? I thought the name company carlton was completly gone now, since nov2004 )
As part of the rationalisation of brands during the merger, it was decided that the Carlton Screen Advertising brand would remain. It's a well recognised and profitable brand and keeping it on wouldn't interfere with ITV plc's branding strategy in the same way that continuing to use the Carlton Television brand on screen would (and my God did I not half sound like one of the marketing idiots that I so despise just then).

For example, Granada and Carlton managed to slice of the limb that was ITV Digital without bringing down the mother ships. And they managed to leave behind the debts too.
And as well as that, running ITV Digital at arms' length also meant they got back some of the money they put it; if you look at the list of creditors that were paid back money during the liquidation of the company, various interests of Carlton Communications plc and Granada plc are at the top of the list!
So rather bizarrely, they screwed the venture up, but they also got the largest amount of money back from the liquidators!

The Granada and Carlton name should not be allowed to be used by ITV plc, as they merged into ITV plc.
So a company is only allowed to trade under the registered name of the parent company? Presumably then you'd like to buy Unilever Icecream instead of Walls, and buy your new PC at Dixons Stores Group PC Superstore instead of PC World? What a ridiculous comment.
It's a great ident. Everyone would sit up and notice that if it was shown before programmes! Certainly better than the wishy-washy current ITV1 idents.
Due to where it's show though, I doubt there's a copy on the net...

Well it was a Public Limited Company.... and that's what the Limited part means.... limited liability
Been ages since I saw it before a film, but from what I remember is it where theres a fire and a poker in the shape of the carlton star is placed into it, before being 'burned' onto the screen? If so I always loved the sound on that too.
If the CSA sound is so great, then why isn't there a CSA Polyphonic Ringtone?
