Right, thanks for that. I thought that South would probably be from a relay and its relays (if that makes sense) but I thought maybe they wouldn't go to the trouble.

Going back to Andrews original point about the opt-outs being more prominent, Calendar South when it first started back in 1990 used to say 'This is Calendar South from Sheffield', and the in stand alone bulletins, the captions were different to the Emley and Belmont bulletins, and come to think of it so was the sting and opening ident!

In the mid 90s, Calendar started at 5.55 and after a menu from Christa they did the video-wall handover to the opt-outs for a few minutes, then just before 6.00 each opt would hand back to the YTV clock, and Calendar proper would start. I have one of these on tape, and the YTV clock is a chessboard design.

Do you mean like this Andrew ? Look that's Christa, sob sob. And isn't that Gaynor Barnes, top left ?

Yeh, I really liked that opt out before the main bulletin, it was very slick.

With regards to Granada Weather, it is not sponsored.
The intro is ' Granadaaa Weather ' by one of the announcers. Also the male and female out of vision weather presenters are the same ' in-vision ' presenters for Yorkshire. Presume Granada Weather is recorded therefore in Leeds. However, it is a bit annoying when giving Granada weather they often say ' it will be... sunny / rainy etc IN OUR REGION ' If they are in Leeds, they are not in Granadaland, so ' IN OUR REGION ' is not quite correct. Oh, and a few weeks ago after the ITV news, we did receive a full TYNE TEES weather bulletin which was not much good to us here in the North West. ' Technical Hitch ' springs to mind.

How much would it cost them to have someone to have someone do the Granada Weather in-vision? Surely not much if the other regions do! Ooo-hooo, don't get me started on that, anyway.

Actually, I've got my dander up now, so I'll slag off Granada a bit more. Why don't we get our region split up into smaller sub-regions? I get sick of hearing about bloody Manchester and Liverpool all the time. How about an opt-out for us in Lancashire?

Anyway, I'm off to watch our pathetic offering that they call regional news here in Granadaland.

Yes, they should do that now, Not exactly at the beginning of the bulletin, maybe at 605, If you saw today's Calendar they practically did go to the news desk straight away!

Yes it is Gaynor Barnes top left in Leeds, Alan Hardwick top right in 'Hull' and some one else in Sheffield.

I'm sure they could install a videowall if they just slightly extended the Calendar set a bit, There must be some space left as they dont have a sofa anymore.

Then we could have Karen Petch in Leeds, Jason McCartney in Hull and Katie Lampert in Sheffield,

And maybe they could call Leeds 'Calendar West' or 'Calendar Central'??

I used to live in Sheffield and none of my family (nor myself) could receive Calendar South. Only a tiny part of Sheffield can. Its mad!!!
