What do you think of this idea,

So YTV can show off that they have been producing regional opt outs for years, and try to keep Christa's viewers, Why don't they do what they used to do in 1993-1996 when Calendar was done from the Newsroom...
They could have a big videowall with 4 screens, with 3 of those filled with the 3 presenters of Calendar East, South and 'News', They could then handover to Leeds, Sheffield and 'Hull' properly.

Currently we have a poor 'Now lets cross to the newsdesk for more local news' link into the Calendar opts, and a even poorer 'Thank You, coming up....' link after them

I agree, put Calendar back in the newsroom, it must still be there.

Yes and also you're right, Calendar have been doing local opt-outs for years and years, and the BBC have only just caught onto the idea ! Do you think Christine is settling into her new role well ?

I pressed 'Submit' to early!

They could also reintroduce a picture of the Humber Bridge, Sheffield City Centre and the Newsroom in the background of the optout studios.

In any case, they need to do something to keep the viewers come September!

Yes, tonight with Mike Morris it was as if she'd been doing them for years!
She knows what shes doing though, she used to present on BBC North West Tonight in 1993 before moving to YTV Calendar as a reserve, then 'Tonight' then 'Wellbeing'

She seemed a bit uncomfortable in the small studio when she did the 'Calendar Lunchtime News' today, though.

By the way, Wellbeing have poached another Calendar presenter, I notice Vicky Locklin was presenting on Wellbeing yesterday

After initial reservations I think Christine is the right replacement for Christa. Do you remember also that Gaynor Barnes used to be stand-in on Calendar too (a bit like Christine) then went to Tonight (just like Christine) and now Live Lunch, haven't seen Gaynor on Wellbeing though!

Bit of a clanger on Emmerdale tonight. Dianne Blackstock was happily watching an edition of 'Tonight' with Christine Talbot (?? I think) when it has been finished for a good while now!
WHOOPS!

Yes she was. Maybe Dianne is sadder than we thought and has all the episodes of Tonight on tape ?

A question I've been meaning to ask for a while.

Which transmitters broadcast the relevant Calendar opt outs?

I know Belmont broadcasts the Calendar East (Hull) opt out but AFAIK Emley Moor is the only other transmitter that broadcasts Yorkshire so how are 3 different sub regions possible. Can someone clear this up for me as its been bugging me for a while!

Bearing in mind that Emmerdale is recorded about 6 weeks in advance, also as 'Tonight' was recorded and 'Live Lunch' is live, tapes of Tonight are probably easier to get hold of.
Or maybe they're trying to incourage YTV viewers to watch Christine Talbot on Calendar!!

If you notice its always someone like Christine or Gaynor which can be heard on Emmerdale when someone watches the TV!
I've also noticed someone on Corrie watching the Granada Weather, which looks exactly like the YTV weather and is narrated by a YTV weather presenter

Thats exactly what the Granada weather is like!

Also, at another time I've seen Mike Morris on one of the Emmerdale's residents TV's.

Calendar South is just broadcast on the Sheffield relay, so there's quite a lot of people who live in Sheffield and rely in Emley for their picture who never see Calendar South:)
