C4 will celebrate it's 25th Birthday with a month of programming on More4 in the month running up until the 2nd November, celebrating the highlights and lowlights of the last quarter of a century.

Shows like The Tube and The Last Resort, launch night drama Walter and Film4's My Beautiful Laundrette are amongst the shows that will be covered in the season.

However, it is thought C4 had planned to relatively overlook it's 25th birthday, wanting to avoid a repeat of the "schmaltzy" ITV50 season - but following the Jade Goody affair, they think it's now more important to show what the channel has bought to the nation in the last 25 years.

So even if it is restricted to More4 (for now), looks like we have Jade Goody to thank for this.

I'd still like alot more IMO - I think using More4 to show classic programming is a good move, but it be good to have a season of the flagship Film4 movies on Film4 - and perhaps showing some of the trashy youth stuff like The Word on E4.

C4 itself though should be the centre of the event.

Seems strange to put it on More, when it's C4's birthday. I know it's the broadcasters birthday, but even so...

Odd that it seems we won't be getting anything on Channel 4. Why overlook the anniversary on the channel that we're celebrating?

They probably will do something on Channel 4 but as addressed above most of the Birthday Celebration content will be shown over on More4. Laughing

C4 celebrates its birthday by putting the celebratory programmes on its digital channel. What idiot thought of that one?

Mind you, I would warm to More4 if they were to abandon the overnight looped promos in favour of ETP1...

We'd better see something on C4 - at least a special edition of Countdown , and a few plays of the original flying blocks and Fourscore .
