Well we can rule out a daytime chat show for now. Obviously channel four has long term commitments with Richard and Judy and it's pretty settled over on four. I wonder what they will do with him. Maybe this is an exercise to sneer at ITV1 and say "HA ha... we got rid of the jewel in you daytime crown?"

Why would they keep R + J going when they have Paul waiting in the wings?!

If they have any sense they'll put him on asap!

Because Richard & Judy (awful though they are) are far far superior to the council estate trash that is O'Grady. What are Channel 4 thinking of - they are supposed to be reasonably high-brow, O'Grady is the personification of lowest common denominator television ITV.

If I remember correctly, Paul O'Grady comes from the Wirral, which is quite a nice part of the North West.

Well coming from the Wirral it's not a bad place, but Paul always says "Birkenhead School of Music" there is no such place. I wonder if they will keep the same set and title or revamp?

A huge blow - just about ITV's only consistently succesful daytime show (apart from This Morning) and it ends up Channel 4.

Serves 'I.T.V.P.L.C.' right for getting rid of 'ITV News Channel'!

I certainly hope Channel 4 don't axe Richard and Judy. I know they aren't everybody's cup of tea, but I do quite like them. I'd prefer to watch R&J than Paul O'Grady.

What I would like to see on ITV is for Des and Mel to move back to 17.00-18.00 as a permanent, year-long fixture. Their afternoon slot could be given permanently to Loose Women.

they're sharing the slot - 6 months on, 6 months off.

YES!!!!!!!!! Laughing

So it's a six-month time share with Richard and Judy - so that rules out BBLB getting the 5.30pm slot back over the summer (go on C4, give it the 6pm slot!)

Anyone know if Paul O'Grady leaves ITV with immediate effect or whether he's still under contract to do perhaps one more series - didn't they say it be returning in February!

Another thing - C4 daytime shows such as The Coach Trip and Come Dine with Me, which had run in the 4pm hour, are both due to return but with Countdown and Deal or No Deal their regular slots had gone.

I had assumed they'd probably air in the 5pm hour over the summer when Richard and Judy aren't on air - but now I'm guessing this may not be the case.

If that is true who is going to get the crap bit, i.e June, July, August. I can't see Richard and Judy working the summer.

If he is moving to Channel 4 to do the exact same show presumably they've offered him a load of money.

Maybe they'll swap mid July. Wink

A good article here too: http://www.thestage.co.uk/news/newsstory.php/11206/ogrady-joins-richard-judy-on-channel-4

Richard and Judy have also had their contracts extended. Paul O'Grady's ITV contract has already expired and he will begin with C4 in the Spring.

My guess is R+J will continue till around May, with Paul doing the summer months then R+J returning in the Autumn.

MediaGuardian says Paul O'Grady's contract expired - it seems ITV forgot to renew it.

It also says that despite being exclusive to Channel 4 in the daytime, he is free to work for any channel in the evening.

I wonder if he'll still be doing the Soap Awards on ITV. I doubt it, he'll probably do a R&J and never appear on ITV1 ever again, which is bad news for viewers.

What about the new talent show programme he is meant to hosting on ITV? Simon Cowel implied that the show was going ahead after a successful pilot?
