If ITV had actually put some effort into this then it wouldn't be so bad. They could have repackaged the material and branded it "O'Grady's Best Bits" or something rather than showing complete old shows.

That way, they could remove all the duff topical banter that is now irrelevant, picked out the choice interviews and avoid the pointless straps such as "Previous competition winner" etc.

Surely its no different to repeats on UK Gold. Have I Got News for You or any old episode of any chat show.

The only thing I wanna say to that is that on UK Gold you know that they (mostly... excluding terry wogan) show repeats, and you are aware of that. However the fact that ITV is attempting to pull the o grady shows off as live is different.

About fooling viewers, yes it can. If you happen to see some generic bits then you would think it was live. I (and I knew about the defect to channel 4!) saw it the other day from about 30 mins in, and I actually wondered if he was obliged to do another series before leaving... before the competition started.. Felt a bit stupid then... Remember it's not marked on SKY as being a repeat!

And to the person who says HIGNFY is funny anytime, yep i'd agree. Some more topical sections you may not 'get', but generally, even without knowing the exact topical situation, it's still hillerious to watch, as Paul Merton makes the show.

And good one paul for sticking up for yourself and having a go at ITV. It is a bit childish, but they did do the same for Trisha when she moved to five.. they need to grow up, at the end of the day it was their fault , no-one elses, that they failed to renew his contract.

Anyway I went off on one a bit there...

Is voiceover guy Peter Dickson going to the Channel 4 show? I remember him from several years ago on Steve Wright In The Afternoon as Dickie the Exec and Mr Mad.

Probably not; he's voicing ITV's 'brand new' competition on the re-runs.

Means nothing - he's his own business and paid by the session. He has nothing to do with ITV.

But by doing that he's probably burned his bridges with Paul.

I notice they are keeping the same sponsors as Richard and Judy.

Also, it is just going to be called The Paul O'Grady Show isn't it - not the "The New Paul O'Grady Show"

Presumably they were contracted to the now-truncated run of R&J

If Paul was professional - and I think he is - he would keep his argument with ITV and not a freelance voiceover. Who knows? He might even have recorded the sessions before ITV decided to be a bunch of 5 year old kids over the studio space.
