I don't see why ITV are being such arses about this, it was their fault for not renewing his contract, so he was at his own free will to change channel, if ITV cared about him then they would have signed the deal sooner.

That wasn't true in the end. ITV were in negotiations but Channel 4 offered him a better deal.

I suppose they are being arsey about it because Paul was arsey by leaving ITV in the first place.

Showing repeats now after 3 months off air is a bit strange but I suppose it'll be either that or repeats of You've Been Framed! as new shows take time to commission

According to all the trade press I have read ITV allowed his contract to expire. That said it may well be that he had no intention of re-signing with them under any circumstances.

I'm not sure why you think he's being "arsey" by taking a contract with Channel 4 when the one with ITV had expired. What's "arsey" about that? He's free to take himself off to any channel he wants.

As to them showing repeats - I personally think it's rather petty and unprofessional, but that's entirely up to ITV. If I was at Channel 4 I'd try and buy some advertising time in those hours to run some Paul O'Grady "coming soon to Channel 4" ads.

The new show will be filmed at the BBC TV Centre. Looks like ITV got their way.

Keeping the same name for the show then - and the logo looks pretty similar (though is different) too!

All this moaning by ITV is a bit hypercritical really - they did exactly the same thing with Parkinson!

It was not so long ago that Trisha was going head to head with herself in a similar fashion though. New show on five with repeats on ITV1. If I remember rightly, she had more viewers watching the repeats which lead to five moving the show to the afternoon. It's certainly going to be interesting!

Completly different situation though - ITV have the audience in the morning, five don't!

At the moment C4 has a much higher audience at the 5pm junction than ITV do, inheritting something like a peak of 5m from the end of Deal or No Deal - probably about 5 times more than watching the end of CITV!

No, it started off in the afternoon so it was never a straight head to head. In fact Trisha opened her first show by saying how glad she was to move to the afternoons, away from the hussle and bussle of mornings. Of course as soon as the Trisha repeats left ITV1, Five moved Trisha Goddard to the mornings.... Rolling Eyes

Do we think an overhaul will take place, or that the same set, music etc. remain?

You've said it, that's how ITV have become. At least these tactics rebounded on them over Trisha.

Mind you, it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. It's clear Paul O'Grady has become another stroppy diva - and is fast losing my respect.

It didn't because as said above Trisha repeats on ITV1 got more viewers than new episodes of Five, and Jeremy Kyle is now apparantly quite popular. Trisha also wanted prime time work which ITV1 quite righly refused

In regards to Paul O'Grady it seems Channel 4 are the winners, everybody else concerned are the losers

Trisha only got more viewers on ITV1 because as other people have mentioned more people watch ITV1than Five overall.

However this clash between ITV1 and C4 next week will be more interesting.

Indeed - Jeremy Kyle is currently getting better viewing figures than Trisha before she left ITV.
