C4 Launches New Look Idents

So no one spotted them then!!! (November 2003)

Last night C4 aired their new look idents - well, when I say new look, I mean new colour.

It appears that C4 have decided to take their existing idents and give them a splash of paint. Last night I saw a Blue heartbeat ident (usually red), as well as blue versions of flickering tubes and flashing lights.

So I guess this suggests there will be no full revamp in the near future!

will someone capture them and post them here?

Oh.......well I saw the flickering lights one half asleap (And the colours just reminded me of the Movie one), thats probably why I did not notice and it did not ring any bells with me.

So are you saying the Red heartbeat one is blue??

BTW - Any new breakbumpers???? I bet a breakflash is soon when a full new look comes. Why did C4 ditch their set of breakbumpers for the 1? The ones matching the Heartbeat ident and the Water one were rather good.

Are there any pics floating about of the New look?

The last 3 times I've been tuned to Channel 4, I have only seen the old ones. Would like to see anything new if its hanging about. I've only seen a bit of one new one, but interested to see more.

Since Friday night I haven't seen any more new versions, but I imagine they will work their way in slowly.

Not wanting to sound stupid or anything, but haven't these been around for a while? I seem to recall seeing different coloured variations before now.

Channel 4 has, without doubt, the worst idents on TV. Thaat plinky plonky music give me the creeps.

No, they're far better than the BBC ONE ones. As in: they work as idents.

Having said that, they are getting a bit tired; they need a proper revamp, with some proper new styles. And perhaps some new music with a proper, recognisable theme wouldn't go amiss, although I'm not sure if that would really suit the style of the idents, now I think about it...

The whole lines theme has so much potential yet is painfully underdeveloped. As the most daring and innovative of the five terrestrial channels (seeing as five have given up being daring) their idents and presentation should reflect this - but they don't. I personally loved the idea behind the circles look... OK so the idents weren't really up to much, but the rest of the package looked superb when it was used properly. It was really different from what had been done before and reflected the channel well.

Agreed. They got rid of the circles look far too quickly; I think it only got slagged off so much because it replaced such classic idents.

Actually, I think the celebrity C4 lines idents show exactly how celebrity live-action idents should be done...

I still think the film ident is stunning. Plus soundwaves has one of the best soundtracks on TV - especially the old one where channel4.com appeared in a much better animation than it does now.

I liked the Brookside celeb ones.

I think the next set should be animated, but use a C4 logo similar to on Freeview - a white 4 in a box which has the lines in the background. Idents would begin with lines, which form into the box, with the 4 logo forming on top, leaving space on the left for the NOW/NEXT menu.
