Digital Spy reports that C4 is to launch a new gaming channel on Freeview, following the success of "9 Live TV" on E4.

Quote:
Channel 4 is "in talks" to launch a new gaming channel on Freeview in order to generate more revenue, according to Broadcast.

The news comes after ITV recently announced a similar strategy for its upcoming fourth digital station.

C4's new channel would be an offshoot of the successful '9 Live Quiz TV' programme trialled on E4 last year.

Commercial arm 4 Ventures is now in discussions with German broadcaster 9 Live about the joint venture, which would be available as an FTA channel for the estimated 5 million Freeview households.

I guess it'll be more of a service than a channel, similar to the current games channel also available on Freeview.

As good a name as any!

Talking of 4 Play - what's happened to 4 Music lately - used to be quite good - and include a slot called 4 Play - but now seems to just be a repeat of Popworld and Hit 40 UK - hardly cutting edge alternative music (though Popworld cracks me up!)
