Tumble Dryer speak? Do you mean me and my TV channel codes? I'm Tumble Tower actually, and the code would be 4C+1.

By the way, let's not make an issue of this here, if you want to continue discussing the code for Channel 4+1, or the other channels, please do so on the TV Channel Codes thread.

Why? IMO the DOG should fade in on ad breaks and disappear during programmes, not the other way around.

I hear that - I never understood why MTV used to replace the MTV logo with a spool at ad breaks. I thought the whole business idea behind DOGs in a multichannel environment was to catch the viewer's eye with the company brand and keep them tuned in.

Surely removing a DOG during ads will just make these imaginary surfers, who supposedly never seem to look at their on-screen banner, keep on surfing?

Considering he's banned, I hope he doesn't continue discussing anything here.

There is currently a message on now just like you get on the Channel 4 Simulcast on the internet but with the +1 logo on the right instead saying that they are unable to show the current programme. Probably because of the film that is showing! (The Tall Men)

On again with a high pitched beep every 10 seconds or so!

Quite odd it's as if it +5 minutes now! Deal or no Deal is on there! Laughing

Will we have to rescan our digibox's to get the new names? Or will the EPG just change automatically?

I had to redo the box downstairs when ITV play disappeared but its quite an old box, so I'm not sure about the newer IDTV's we have.

That's what I was talking about earlier.

I'm rather confused. Earlier +1 was showing Richard ad Judy at about 5:10 when it should've been just finishing Countdown. However I've just watched The Simpsons on +1 which started correctly at 7pm.

No, R&J is 5-6pm on C4. I've just watched the Simpsons on +1 too, cos that was quite a good episode

I know but what I'm saying is R&J was on Channel 4 and 4+1 at the same time, but I think +1 was behind by a few minutes.

My own television had ITV2+1 pop up by itself without having to rescan. However our main television was rescanned several times and still remained as ITV Play, until just recently, after scanning again, it became ITV2+1.

My cheapo Pacific STB managed to change from ITV Play to ITV2 +1 with no problem at all, depends what kind of box you have, but if you want to be certain I think a rescan is the best bet for it.

I'm NOT a moderator. What made you think I was one? I was just answering A Former Member 4's point by saying what my actual shorthand code would be for Channel 4 + 1 (4C+1). As an ordinary user, what I menat was I was just letting it drop, in response to his post, I don't want others consequently bringing up the old chestnut "not your stupid codes again" or similar.

Why is there such an issue about having to rescan boxes / iDTVs when channels come and go on DTT? Rescanning is child's play, it's not rocket science. All you have to do is press a few buttons to go through a few menus, and wait a few minutes. Simple.

Has it been officially confirmed that it will replace E4+1 or Film4+1? Laughing

Dunno - I wonder though: E4+1 has the "good" feed in terms of quality - and Film4's main slot is on MuxD, which is has the least coverage of all six muxes, IIRC (certainly, it's marginal for me since it's "out-of-group", and that's apparently a widespread problem). Film4+1, while a relatively poor-quality stream, has far wider reception since it's on Mux2 with C4, E4 and More4.

I've noticed that too: Film4 on Mux D and Film4+1 on Mux 2. Why don't they swap them around - put Film4 on Mux 2 and Film4+1 on Mux D? Then C4+1 could replace the Film4+1 slot on Mux D.

AIUI the picture quality on the stream they use on Mux D is better than that on Mux 2, and so is more suited to a film channel. Mux 2's picture quality is generally a bit rubbish.

True - but why not swap Film4 with the current E4+1 feed (on MuxC), which has wider coverage? The two +1 channels could then be put on the "trade-off" (one with poor coverage, one poor quality) streams. [Given that C4+1 will apparently be regionalised (for adverts), it'll need the Mux2 stream, leaving E4+1 on MuxD in that scenario].
