C4 is to launch C4+1 - a time shifted version of C4 - in August on "all digital platforms", which presumably means the end for either E4+1 or Film4+1 on Freeview.
Can't believe C4 will launch C4+1!

Has it been officially confirmed that it will replace E4+1 or Film4+1? Laughing

Dunno - I wonder though: E4+1 has the "good" feed in terms of quality - and Film4's main slot is on MuxD, which is has the least coverage of all six muxes, IIRC (certainly, it's marginal for me since it's "out-of-group", and that's apparently a widespread problem). Film4+1, while a relatively poor-quality stream, has far wider reception since it's on Mux2 with C4, E4 and More4.

I'd think they'd replace E4+1 myself given the combination of a "good steam" and wanting to keep Film4's overall coverage up, but who knows...

E4+1 though is I think their highest rated digital channel apart from E4.

Launches on the 20th of August. Still no word on whether it will replace E4+1 or Film4+1 on Freeview.

All these digital spin off channels, +1's etc is like sticking a knife into the channel which broadcast the show originally.

People wont need to worry now, because they can catch it an hour later. With the introductions of first look and repeats for a number of shows, ratings have dropped because people dont have to be in at a certain time.

I really dont see the benefit of this at all

I think it's a good idea, because then if you miss an important program, you can watch it on this for free, whereas with OD you might have to PPV.

But not of the main channel, only of Five US and Five Life.
Not to say that Five +1 would be too far away if C4 +1 takes off.

Here's a clue - you explain it yourself in the first 2 paragraphs! Wink

Is 4+1 be like the televised version of watching the internet telecast of the main channel, in the sense that they'll only have the rights to homemade stuff. Stuff like the Simpsons won't be on will it since Sky have digital rights to that

That's a good point, though I'm not sure how much content it would affect nowadays as most (though not all) imported programme they have the digital and analogue rights for - but as you say The Simpsons is an obvious exception, and it's bound to affect a number of movies too.
