Well Tracy Ann Griffiths is the Irish lady on C4 ex UTV invision announcer .

There is also a girl there with a northern accent who is ex BBC 1 .
A guy called Garry who is on Plus too at the moment and i think he is ex Central .

Yes - him on Plus and 4. He's good. Like him.

You're talking about Gary Terrza, he is very good, I've heard him on E4 too, I assume that they share sometimes for Channel 4 and E4, but the Channel 4 announcers are really good at their jobs.

I do remember Marcus doing a few stints last year, but it was mainly a teatime shift, I do remember his geordie accent introducing Friends and Hollyoaks.

One of the best announcers on British tv in my opinion, along with his colleague David MacLeod.

The guy with the Irish accent does my head in!

Although ironically, Tracey Anne Griffiths sounds great on Channel 4, but when she was at UTV, she really did my head in. I didn't realise for years that the mysterious Northern Irish female announcer at C4 was TAG, the voice was familar though so it was a shock to find out it was her.

Are there two different Northern female CAs on Channel 4? Both sound the same, and for some reason I thought one of them was Mary Anne Hobbs (Radio 1 DJ).

Marcus Bentley hasn't done any C4 freelance announcing for a while, he certainly doesn't do any CA work during Big Brother .

Jane Copeland's voice can be heard if you ring any Orange phone and get through to voicemail.

I've noticed lately that one of the E4 announcers has been CAing on C4, probably freelance, he has a Northern accent.

Am I right in thinking that Sky News presenter Paula Middlehurst used to be an announcer on C4 as well?

I am sure that at the time she was working for both, presenting on Sky News one day, and then announcing on Four either the next day or later in the week.

I also recall seeing her appear in-vision once in a programme junction on the channel, when they had the 'circles' idents.

there are currently 7 C4 annos used to be 8... 3 E4 annos.

I can never remember Marcus doing C4 - Wouldn't he be recognised too much? Razz

He has done shifts there, but only a few, as a freelance. Yes his voice is too recognisable to do continuity, IMHO.

I've got an old tape of Bewitched that has him introducing it. Can't remember whether I recorded it before or after BB started, though...

One of my favs on 4 was Jane Copland who is rather plummy she does alot of promos at BBC and sometimes does plus .She left 4 when they went invision for a short time back in 96 she said she wasn't doing it and they said ok go then !!!! .

I agree 100% - Jane Copland is one of the best female VO in the country.
I think she was one of the original announcers on C4??? She left BBC Scotland to join the channel about the same time as Northsound DJ Dave McLeod became an announcer at C4. Paul Coia from STV was the very first announcer and voice heard on the station on its launch day.

I remember hearing Bentley anno an episode of Bewitched last winter (its how he keeps the wolf from the dootr when BB is out of season). You may recognize Garry Terzza from CITV in the 80s (or at least from their Birthday Special a little while back). The laidback Irish chap is my favorite, then the African-sounding woman, then Terzza.

I thought Jane looked great in-vision when I saw her presenting a BBC Select programme for the medical sector.. very much "Auntie Jane"!

Paul Coia was my hero when I was 11 and he was doing test tx annos before the C4 launch.. but I just looked at his website and, in particular:

http://www.paulcoia.com/page3.html

Although it's written in the 3rd person, the front page welcomes us to "my website" and the humour takes "dry" to drought level - to the extent where he actually comes across as having a problem with himself!

Anybody know him personally?

I finally found a pic of the the sexy-voiced and rarely seen Jane Copland - she is not as I pictured her!:

Yes I remember Paul Coia opening C4 saying "Good afternoon. It's a pleasure for me to say welcome to Channel 4." The original (female) announcer back in 1982 wasn't Jane Copland but Olga Hubiczka. Another of the announcers of the original team was Keith Harrison, who went to LWT. Can't remember who the fourth member of the original announcing team was though.
