C4 agree VOD deal with PACT

After months of fighting it out, it appears that C4 has got it's way with the Video On-Demand negotiations with PACT, securing an exclusive 30-day window to offer programmes on demand via cable or broadband.

In addition, no rival service will be able to offer the programmes for six months after broadcast.

Producers will receive a share of any revenue from pay-per-view or subscription services, or a royalty fee if the shows are offered for free.

C4 will launch / relaunch it's video on demand service in the autumn.

quite vauge on the details though. I'm not sure whether this will be like the current Lost system where it's done on broadband streaming or whether it'll be more of an iMP style thingy. Hopefully the former as I notice the BBC have a mini version of iMP going for the filmnetwork

it says all major on-demand platforms, including broadband and cable.


Homechoice, Telewest and NTL are the only major on-demand platforms I can think of

cable has more bandwidth than broadband though surely?
