Sadly yes. An undignified, not to mention humiliating, end for this once lynchpin series.

It'll be Grange Hill going the same way next.

What's with "being axed"? Byker was officially axed in May this year. Its website on bbc.co.uk disappeared literally within three days of the news.

Anyway, I reckon Grange Hill will be next to be axed. It's back next year, but the show isn't as good as it was, it went downhill after it moved out of Elstree.

Chucklevision is now pure drivel, I can't understand how it's lasted nearly twenty years when the plots don't go anywhere. Series 19 starts filming soon, enough already.

Basil Brush can go as well IMO, as its went rotten to the core between the end of the 2005 series and the start of the 2006 series. Apparently the script and support on the live tour is crap as well so looks like Entertainment Rights has given up on the fox as well.

Hordes of teenage girls might disagree! Chris Perry-Metcalf has given Grange Hill its biggest heart-throb for years; they certainly hit the spot there. But it's certainly not Grange Hill away from London. Just two London characters will remain next series - if at all.

What happens long-term is anyone's guess. Mersey TV are contracted up to the 30th series and this is almost in the can. Celebrations have already been announced for Grange Hill's 30th anniversary in 2008, these could include a reunion, theme nights and possibly selected re-runs.

That thread title sound like a regional news magazine! Laughing (maybe if "Today" didn't have a capital "T"...)

You know they are actually making a Movie of it aswell, I can't believe they're still giving kids this drivel, it was funny for a few years, but almost 2 decades of the same old thing, I really can't believe. But saying that some people must watch it...

I think the 'Movie' thing turned out to be someone having a laugh on Wikipedia, and it not getting removed for months. Certainly haven't heard anything else about it.
