I was at a meeting in Berwick last night at which representatives from both Border (Paddy Merrall) and Tyne Tees (Graeme Thompson) were present, and can confirm that the reallocation of the town's relay from Border to Tyne Tees is imminent. The work to change it over will hopefully be done over the next few weeks.

As well as the most obvious reason for the change, to bring Berwick into line with the rest of the North East and ending the current situation where parts of the town get Tyne Tees and others get Border, one of the other reasons is that as part of the digital process all relays have to be fed from the same parent transmitter. Berwick is one of thirty relays throughout the country which have twin parents - in this case, Chatton and Selkirk - which won't work under the digital set-up.

I do have to say that the meeting was poorly attended, partly due to a lack of promotion, but those who were there were happy to make the change.
