I thought Simon Amstell wasn't too bad last night, normally I can't stand him. Looking forward to Lauren Lavern's show, hehe.
BTW, is the forum screwed up tonight? Parts of the site arn't loading, like the menu system and the links to the board, so I'm having to find ways of navigating around without them.

I did think the show had more of a 'Youth' feel to it with Amstell hosting - in that sense I didn't like it. It kind of lost its retro appeal. Bill and Phil seemed out of place to me last night.
It wouldn't surprise me if Mark Lamarr didn't return. He seems to have a bored attitude when he hosts it. That considered, I do find his limited patience funny.
Athelston? Athelston?

I, personally, thought Simon Amstell was excellent. I'm glad that the stand-in presenters are funny and capable of presenting, ie. not Chantelle from Big Brother.Lauren sounds an excellent choice, although I can't think of who else could do the job. Bill Bailey would be evcellent in the presenters chair..
God that was hard to type considering I'm pissed.

It isn't quite Buzzcocks without Mark Lamarr.
I won't deny the possibility that he may not return, but if that were the case, it would be a shame.

I'd disagree there.
Millionnaire - Chris Tarrant. He makes the show. It's been done in other countries and been terrible.
Weakest Link - Anne Robinson. Can anyone imagine many others doing this programme?
Countdown - Richard Whitely. Has been pathetic without him.
Shooting Stars - Vic & Bob. Shooting Stars was Vic & Bob. No-one else could have done this show.

I disagree with your disagreement (this could get very confusing)
Weakest Link - has had a male presenter in US daytime version and in other versions around the world, and some females who didnt impersonate Anne Robinson
Shooting Stars - This wasn't a gameshow as much as a collective comedic performance from some very talented TV personalities - Matt Lucas and Mark Lamarr were as much a part of it as Vic and Bob.
Countdown - it's been different granted, but still watchable and is still guaranteed to be on air till 2007.
Millionaire - yes it has been done in other countries but is only terrible by our standards - the US version was one of ABC's best rated shows and the Aussie version is still going strong.
Other shows which have survived a change of presenter include Family Fortunes*, Blankety Blank, Stars In Their Eyes*, Have I Got News For You, A Question Of Sport, Bullseye, Blockbusters, Catchphrase* etc.
*denotes shows which got worse with change of presenter
