It's going to be very interesting when they decide to screen the highlights...and if the News moves. ITV will surely make more money at 10pm via advertising revenues as it's likely more viewers will watch at that time than 10:35pm which is a bit late for some (including myself to be honest due to Work commitments).

That leaves the question should the News be moved to a new slot every night? Anyway if this story is true, congratulations to ITV (as well as BT of course).

Doing a 10 slot wouldn't be too difficult technically, if the highlights package is for both matchdays then Tuesday's pack could be edited and ready to run at 10pm, allowing them time to edit Wednesday's for 10.30 ish.
I still think that the programme will run at 1035 though, moving the News for recorded sport seems even with the advertising issues a step too far.

Meanwhile there's a legal discussion on BT's business model for BT Sport

Also worth remembering they can get more ads in if it runs past 11pm. They are limited to 40 minutes between 6-11pm with the 6pm and 10pm hour usually relatively ad free, but then the 11pm hour is crammed with ads as they can use their overnight quota rather than airing them at 4am in the morning. Therefore in terms of advertising it would make no sense at all to end the show at 11pm.

Wouldn't any ads shown after 11 make ITV less money though?

What about a premier airing on ITV 4 at ten with a repeat on ITV (1) later?

No because they can show ads after 11pm, they won't be able to show the full quota of ads in the 10pm hour - so any losses from a later slot will more than offset the lost revenue from less ads in an earlier slot.

Not quite sure where this idea has come from they should air them at 10pm - there has been absolutely nothing to suggest they would, and not even confirmation from ITV they have the rights yet. 10.35pm is fine - the key audience is still around and it's the slot they're used too - plus less competitive too as it's not going up against the BBC News at Ten.

This would presumably mean an 11.05pm slot on STV. It's unlikely to move Scotland Tonight to a later slot as the show's useful to get kudos from opinion formers, the move would see it start after Newsnight Scotland and by all accounts it's actually quite popular (as much as football would almost certainly gather a bigger audience).

Confirmation ITV have picked up highlights of the Champions League and Europa League, with programmes to air Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Be interesting to see what they've paid for it and how it compares to what the BBC pay for MOTD.

I don't think it'll be a lot, by TV rights deals standards and it will be significantly less than the BBC's Premier League deal. But part of that will be because the BBC won't have pushed ITV very much and ITV can provide the free to air exposure for UEFA sponsors.

I have to ask why is the UEFA Champions League Weekly show on ITV at 3am?

I think it's something all Champions League broadcasters get for free, and perhaps they're contractually obligated to show. Got a feeling it's is or at least was at one stage produced by ITV Sport.

But it's just a magazine show basically, and something the likes of Sky Sports would use as filler.
