Sad day, I had expected him to come back yet and reinvent himself again, but has his absence from the screens got longer and longer today became ever more inevitable, particularly when it was said he was too ill to attend the funeral of Ronnie Corbett.

The generation game 2nd time around and then Bruce's Price is Right is how I remember him the most, particularly the latter when it used to air on Fridays at7.

Is this programme currently on BBC One new or a repeat?

I find these tribute programmes really unsettling, knowing people like Tess Daly had to be asked about Bruce but to answer in a past tense like he was already dead. Must be fairly unpleasant for all involved.

I've read newspaper obituaries written by people who've predeceased the subject. I think it's generally accepted that tribute programmes are made in advance - though perhaps not always broadcast before some people will have heard the news.

A fitting tribute would be to name the newly updated TC1 studio at Television Centre after him when it re-opens.

I imagine this is probably the quickest a tribute programme has aired since the Queen Mother died.

Indeed unusually quick, as you'd usually get live tributes first followed by a properly produced programme later. I'm guessing it's on now and they've cancelled The One Show due to there being a 90 min Masterchef at 8:30, as you'd usually expect something like this to air at 9pm, either that or it wasn't possible to mount the usual tribute One Show format.

HE said he never did enough Variety, well he did: Mind you it never stopped Bob Monkhouse who did over 15 gamesshows..

Don't forget this gem from 88.

And many will miss it - hopefully they repeat it over the weekend. Usually though there is a quick turnaround tribute (already filmed) and then something which follows a few weeks later.

Would be nice if someone repeated an episode of the original Generation Game or Sunday Night at the Palladium - something a bit older which many people have only ever seen in clip form.

Legend though - but can't help but feel there is a battle over his will coming.

Back in the 60s, one episode of Tonight at the London Palladium looked to be in jeopardy as an Equity strike meant none of the acts would appear.

Brucey and Norman Wisdom stepped up and did the whole show by themselves, in what would have been the stuff of TV Forum legend had it been around back then.

Would be very fitting and considering the tributes to Terry Wogan and John Peel doesn't seem out of the question.

Only issue is should Strictly opt to remain at Elstree they'll be deemed to have snubbed the Bruce Forsyth Studio! They could go the Countdown route though and replace their tatty Glitterball trophy with a new one in memory of Brucie.

Well, it was only a couple of weeks ago that there were a couple of stories about how 'weak but still cracking jokes' from 'close friends' - so when I read that, I thought that was the code to get the obituaries knocked into shape, because the sad news could happen at any time.

Plus he's been out of action for quite a while - including a non-apperance at Ronnie C's memorial service, so it would have given broadcasters plenty of time to get the tributes to hit the right tone, with a good set of archive raids on his television career.

ITV News obit at 6.30 was very strange. All the clips from his BBC shows were (bar one) in broadcast quality. ITV shows, were all scraped off You Tube. Hey, ITN. ITV have a very good archive based in Leeds you know.
I know he had a messy fall out from 'the Yorkshire The Price Is Right' years, but there was no excuse to show those ITV clips in a sub-SD picture quality.

One of the best afternoons of my life was spent in TC3 watching him host 'Didn't They Do Well' for the BBC. The man had a auroa about him, had no warm-up man - he did it all himself, and we were eating out of his hand within seconds. A true great.

Night, Bruce. Sleep well, Sir.

The BBC documentary has had full quality clips of his ITV Programs.
I wonder if ITV will repeat his Piers Morgan Life Stories this weekend.

For what it's worth I've started up a petition. Possibly the first petition I've ever started online in my life but I believe it's the right thing. https://www.change.org/p/bbc-name-the-newly-renovated-tc1-studio-at-television-centre-after-bruce-forsyth/nftexp4/real_control/83093036?recruiter=83093036&utm_source=share_petition&utm_medium=facebook&utm_campaign=share_for_starters_page&utm_content=nafta_share_post_title_en_7%3Areal_control
