The only other person bar Ken Dodd is Sir Stanley Baxter are the only From TV starting era left.

with the BBC Obituary on him is a tad poor to say at least.

Quote:
Challenge will be celebrating the life of a legend with a full weekend of Bruce’s Price Is Right and Play Your Cards Right! 9am-6pm tomorrow and 9am-8pm on Sunday!

Here's the BBC News Report.

BBC News saying a special tribute will air on BBC One at 7pm, but didn't say it would be The One Show, so it's either been dropped or will be a One Show special.

Indeed, it's been replaced by Sir Bruce Forsyth: Mr Entertainment:

'A look back at the life and career of Sir Bruce Forsyth, who entertained the British public for over 75 years.'

On a related note, I always find it interesting how Channel 4 News take the effort to provide an up-to-date synopsis in the EPG.

'Channel 4 News is live in Barcelona, following the latest terror attack to strike Europe, and the latest to involve a weaponised van. And Bruce Forsyth has died, aged 89. [S]'

Interesting to see how many news outlets outside the U.K. are reporting this news. Not sure how well known he was outside the UK, but Variety for one mentions his appearances in "Magnum PI", "Bedknobs and Broomsticks" and "Star!"

Some broadcasters do update synopsies to reflect recent events - Sky Sports for one have been known to add detail to their synopsies of sporting events.

Sad to see Brucie go, and I'm sure he'll go 'higher'.

I did find it odd that throughout Len Goodman's interview on The One Show last night, he continually referred to Bruce in the past tense. May be just his way of reflecting on someone he no longer was working with, but also a little prescient.

On pres related matters, BBC ONE Northern Ireland faded in their generic red logo animation, but a little too late so you saw a brief flash of the below BBC News Special Report slide first.

Just caught the end of a flash on BBC One with Sophie Raworth so rewound it on iPlayer.

Yes, going off topic a little but both Sky Sports and BT Sport update the EPG a few hours before broadcast to show which matches they will be showing when tennis coverage is scheduled.

I find these tribute programmes really unsettling, knowing people like Tess Daly had to be asked about Bruce but to answer in a past tense like he was already dead. Must be fairly unpleasant for all involved.

Thank you. I'm feeling the exact same sentiment.

Exactly. Even people without an interest in TV pres will be able to tell this tribute programme currently on BBC One was recorded well in advance, given the sheer volume of celebrities featured talking about him in the past tense, and I presume they feel the exact same thing.

Don't think there are many of the old school left - Ken Dodd I suppose is probably the other best known example of a similar age and statute who is still actively on tour.

And of course Barry Humphries - although you'd be forgiven for thinking he is much younger than his 83 years.
