Seems a co-ordinated embargoed release process as with Sir Terry Wogan has been used for this one. Key time being 1635 BST.
It was a messy crash out of a Barcelona report on the BBC News Channel, which didn't suggest an embargo to me. Also Anita McVey's delivery was painfully stilted with pauses between each sentence , it was as if she was reciting what someone was feeding her on talkback
Textbook news flash from BBC One there. Much more effective done that way rather than crossing over to the News Channel (such as the infamous Nelson Mandela incident).
Handy that the News Channel comes from a different studio between 5 and 6. I'd imagine that wouldn't have been possible at another time of day

It would have probably been done from Studio A or D (BBC London studio).
Until he was ill recently he looked and sounded really great for somebody in his late 80s. One of those people who's been around for many years, pretty much universally loved. Famously known of course for that keep-fit routine he demonstrated on a show a few years ago, doing exercises at 85 I struggle to do at 35. We'll all miss him.
Don't think there are many of the old school left - Ken Dodd I suppose is probably the other best known example of a similar age and statute who is still actively on tour.
ITV must record their preview within the regional news for the evening news quite early, as there was no mention of Bruce. Then again, I am watching the prerecorded programme in my subregion so maybe they recorded a newer one for the versions in subregions/regions that are broadcast live.
I don't think it was as expected as people say it is. I mean, he has been ill, but for a man heralded for his apparent immortality, I thought he would've made it further than 89. Terrible news, regardless. I really hope the tributes shut the mouths of the little s**ts who just saw him as a doddery old man who told crap jokes on Strictly.
The BBC are definitely learning because that newsflash was spot on, even managing to avoid the "drop into the News Channel" schtick they've been doing lately and having a completely separate bulletin to what was showing on the NC.
