Seems a co-ordinated embargoed release process as with Sir Terry Wogan has been used for this one. Key time being 1635 BST.

My first memories of Brucie come from when he hosted the first Gen Game revival in the early '90s.

Loved him on PYCR and the Price is Right, even if he didn't have the happiest time hosting the latter. And it hardly needs to be said that he fitted Strictly like a glove.

And it's easy to say that he was the best HIGNFY guest host - but I doubt many would disagree, even if he only did it twice (compared to nearly 30 times for Xander Armstrong).

Without a doubt, the entertainment industry will never be the same again. But it was nice to have seen him, to have seen him... nice.

RIP Brucie.

Just caught the end of a flash on BBC One with Sophie Raworth so rewound it on iPlayer.

I'm quite emotional over this news. All of us being enthusiasts of television will have enjoyed many of his wonderful programmes over the years. He managed to entertain so many people and bring the country together over the years. Only recently have I watched a documentary that aired earlier in the year on channel 5 where I learned of the rollercoaster that his career had taken and how he was able to constantly bounce back and entertain the nation once more.

Even though I never got the chance to meet him, I feel like I know him, his personality & warmth was felt through the TV. Here's hoping for many tribute programmes and airings of his classic shows.

RIP Sir Brucie.

Just rewound and it appears the BBC One news report was straight after the end of Flog It (no continuity announcer over the end credits).

Rather like the old-fashioned news reports where there'd be a brief newsflash before moving onto the next programme. 'This is BBC One' into Pointless too.

Textbook news flash from BBC One there. Much more effective done that way rather than crossing over to the News Channel (such as the infamous Nelson Mandela incident).

Very sad news about Sir Brucie. His appearance on Have I Got News for You really is one of my all time TV highlights.

The anno into Pointless was simply "This is BBC One".

I would assume Challenge will pay tribute showing some Play Your Cards Right and Bruce's Price Is Right episodes?

Do they still have the rights to those?

Yes they do, hopefully they will do a tribute to Bruce.

A very unexpected break into the BBC One schedule for a news report there - they may have waited for a junction to do it but the last person I can remember dying and getting a special news report was Nelson Mandela! A television titan.
