They were showing widescreen episodes of Price is Right, which allows me to bring up the geeky point that they used the same opening titles they'd been using since series 2 when they went widescreen, so must have had to go back to the original design company that made them and re-render them in 16:9.

To be honest, I just think they cropped the 4:3 titles to 16:9, and they wouldn't have been the only show to do that. The 1998 Emmerdale titles lasted longer cropped to 16:9 than they did in their original 4:3.

Well! Turns out we're both right. A comparison of the title sequence from a 4:3 episode with the title sequence from a 16:9 episode shows that the majority of titles were a straight centre cut-out crop from 4:3 to 16:9, but they were definitely re-rendered so that the logo at the end of the titles wasn't cut off:

Did they show any 80s Play your Card Right or just the ones from the mid 90s?

What? it was fully networked.

Had a feeling you'd know! Perhaps we were just watching the other side...

When they were having a big clear out of the props store, I delved in the skip and found an almost complete set of the cards used in PYCR. I would've taken them as a souvenir if they were complete, but they weren't - mainly all the the red suits and hardly any black cards.

I recall Danny Baker saying that one of his most prized possessions is one of those cards taken from the LWT prop store.

He also mentioned on his show, coincidentally just a few weeks ago, that he was once mesmerised as he watched Brucie do a camera rehearsal for PYCR. "I'll do a bit of business here, stand here and talk to the contestants, then walk over here...", went through the whole show in under a minute, job done.

This Morning had a few clips of him this morning in broadcast quality, however Loose Women seem to have pulled their own archive from YouTube. Was very pixelated and blurred.

And..
During a recording of the previously mentioned 'Didnt they do well' at TVC, which I was at, the computer clip system which drove the show had to be rebooted. Cue a 10 min break in recording.
Bruce immediately lapped this up headed off into the audience seating and started doing the gags and business with the 'ladies coach party in the front row'.

After about 5 minutes, he got back on stage to the host/contestant podium, and said 'who wants to take part in a quiz - where points won't mean prizes?" He then proceeded to reach into his inside blazer pocket and took out 3 playing card question cards from PYCR.
Made some comment about stealing them from LWT after the last show and how he had to hide them down his socks to get through the BBC security gate earlier on!

Post of the year, Hatton Cross.

Bruce = Legend. Full stop.

Sounds similar to when Bob Monkhouse entertained a National Lottery studio audience for the entirety of a Casualty episode after the draw machine broke down. It must come naturally to entertainers from that era to just keep going regardless and put the audience first.
