That's nice to see they didnt demolish it. A piece of British TV history kept intact.

If you could live in Brookside with any Brookside character of your choice, who would It be?
Beverly Dixon for me. Or Leo Johnson. For completely different reasons.
If you received a letter from someone who listed their address on the letter as Brookside Close, would you believe them? LOL.

I had the treat of driving past Brookside Close on a driving lesson... then I got told off for looking for too long. I've just had a look at it on Google Streetview, and I noticed that there's an area with a barrier with CCTV warning etc. which I can only assume are 'the' houses from the show. Considering Streetview was done years after Brookside finished, would these still be secured?
Which also leads me to the question, how secure was the road when Brookside was still on-air? I can't see it being easy for people trespassing and doing whatever they want.

While there was a security barrier on the road leading to the houses during the time the programme was produced there (and afterwards), it could still be accessed through the area behind the houses.
The security barrier has now gone, according to the BBC report (link above), but the residents may decide to put a
up a gate because of the number of tourists coming to see the close again now that's it's lived in.

the actual addresses are 43-67 brookside (odd numbers) so security bungalow (No.13?)= 43, production houses(Nos 12 & 11?)= 44 and 47. then the character's houess, 10=49 / 9=51 / 8=53 / 7=55 / 6=57 / 5=59. number 4, which was the canteen is 61 and the muse houses 3, 2 and 1, which was the edit suit, are now number 63, 65, 67
I think the sign is there just for nostalga reasons
nice to see them finally lived in as houses 30 years after they were built
I was more surprised to see it's actually going to be called 'Brookside Close' - I thought they were going to give it a real name.

Brookside (Close) is actually the real name of the street. The programme was due to be called Meadowcroft, but eventually took its title from the street (which does have a small brook running alongside).
When production of Brookside ended, it was used as a set for Hollyoaks until 2005 (Number 7 and 8 had wooden panels added to give them a 'Chester' makeover which are still there). Mersey TV then sold the Close before being bought by All3Media and becoming Lime Pictures.
Brookside had 24 hour security until this point, but from then on anyone could walk past the abandoned security office which is still there today looking very shabby.
The Close changed hands several times between 2005-2009 as various developers bought it and then ran out of money as it required extensive refurbishment. To cut a long story short it's like new again now and the houses have been renumbered as mentioned above to (re)join the rest of Brookside Close.
PS. The "real" Brookside street sign oddly disappeared when Mersey put the Close up for sale. It is now on display in Liverpool's new museum (chairman: Phil Redmond.)

Clips? You are aware that 4OD have full episodes on their YouTube channel?
There's something I missed. You can tell in the later episodes how everything started to look like how Hollyoaks looks now. Didn't feel as pure and realistic.
found some clips of early episode on youtube (except episode 5, I couldn't play that in my region due to copyright restrictions by chanel 4

anyway interesting how they filmed it back then, much longer scenes with one camera on the action, no close ups or reactions shots
