iirc, hasn't the Big Breakfast house been fixed up and indeed used for television quite recently? It's in the middle of the Olympic park is it not? I really hope the BBC use it for something Olympicy.

The (former) Big Breakfast House has indeed been used for other TV shows, since the morning show was canned,
although ultimately, it's a private residential property now. The owners have realised its potential after fixing up
the place since the major arson attack of November 2002, and hired it out to indie production companies.
"Neneh and Andi Dish it Up" was the cookery show made there for BBC Two back in (IIRC) 2007 , and a reality
show called "Singing With The Enemy" was made there for BBC Three. Both shows had only one series each.
The house and the canal towpath featured briefly in an episode of "Bad Girls" in a scene where a corpse was
fished out of Old Ford Lock ... but not that of the Channel 4 bigwig that decided to axe The Big Breakfast!
just thinking of the location are there any shops round there

on Google Maps, there doesn't seem to be any shops in the immediate vicinity. Looks like
new residents of Brookside Close are very likely to need motorised transportation to get to the nearest shops.
Unless of course, there's someone on here that lives nearby, who can confirm or deny this.
That would be me...
There are no shops on the estate, but two minutes walk gets you to a corner shop and a ruddy big Tesco.
It's an OK area - situated next to an estate full of all kinds of...um...lovely types.

In other words, there's a rough housing estate nearby full of scallies and Scouse stereotypes ... !
As for Brookside Close itself, would I correct in assuming the security barrier is no longer there, or would people
need to make an appointment with the owners to view the properties, even if one just wanted to pay a visit?

Seems to be a while line on the street denoting where it used to be. In any event, without a guard on duty you could walk round it.

Shela Grant mentioned going to tescos in the first episode
I think I might just pop down there next month ... is it easy enough to get to from the centre of Liverpool?
The houses are in West Derby, which is easy enough to get to by car, especially if you're coming into Liverpool from the M62 all you have to is to turn right when the M62 ends instead of going straight on into Edge Lan. It's definitely worth mapping into Google though.
