Channel4 are showing a total disregard for Brookside atm!
S4C have shown the programme at 10:30 on wednesday nights for a while now and so finishing at midnight is quite acceptable and gives the programme quite an edge!
Whereas Channel 4 showing the programme AFTER midnight is just total suicide and obviously there wont be many viewers wishing to stay up until half past one in the morning!
My fav 'stand alone' episode has to be Jimmy with the fish. Also my fav Brookside character of all time is also Jimmy Corkhill. No other soap has featured a character in so much depth and explored so many possibilities with ONE character!
I for one hope Jimmy Corkhill gets his own series.
which frankly is taking the * now, 11.05pm is fine IMO, and it seems now that they have taken advantage of being on so late, as Tuesday's contained alot of sex apparenlty, but it was on until 1.30am, and by that time I was well asleep.
The entire episode was based around the Gordon boys having sex and it was quite frankly dire
I think the way Channel 4 are treating Brookside is appalling - after yars and years of it being one of their top shows they are dumping it in a graveyard slot. It should be on at 10pm-11.30pm - the 10pm slot was always good on S4C during the late 1990s.
Ive not seen much of it since it moved to Tuesday nights but will try and catch the remaining eps - tbh some of the storylines seem a bit crap which is another reason ive not bothered - does anyone know if the final episode will go out in the usual 11.05pm slot?
Don't be too hard on Channel 4 - the midnight slot was just for one week to allow live coverage of The Games, but the 11pm slot (which is the same as S4C's current slot on a Wednesday) works quite well and is certainly better than Saturday afternoon.
C4 moved it their to avoid rescheduling it every week for the cricket - and must be quite impressed as they've left it there.
Some people have said another channel should have snapped it up, but non of the terrestrial channels really have room in their schedule for it - and even if they did buy it, when would they schedule it to avoid clashes with Emmerdale, Corrie, EastEnders, The Bill and Holby City?
I still think its being treated badly - the Saturday slot wasnt too bad as I used to tape it and watch it when I had a chance, but this week I was asleep before it started at midnight - if its on at 11pm though I will normally try and watch it but tbh the storylines have been quite poor so its hard to maintain an interest in it.

Going off topic, but this isn't worth a new thread - our local TV listings guide (Daily Post TV Wales) said that ex-Hollyoaks / SM:tv star James Redmond (now in Casualty) is the son of Phil Redmond. I've never heard this referred to before, so is it true, or just someone putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 3576?
It's been stated on the Brookside website that no more characters from
Brookside
will be crossing over to
Hollyoaks
.
Shame, as there is potential for
Brookie
characters to cross over into the show - eg. Adele Murray could go to HCC, Nikki Shadwick too, there were rumours Tinhead and Steve were going to become Hollyoaks' new bad guys - and with Matt Musgrove still in
Hollyoaks
there could be a great chance to further exploit the existing
Brookie
/
Hollyoaks
crossovers.
So? There were rumours a few years ago of Corrie/Emmerdale crossovers, but that never happened. Les Battersby meeting the Dingles would be good to see.
