I came across this image of Brookside Close, I never really watched it much so could anyone explain to me, were the houses in a real street or studios, and mainly is the picture real

.
They bought the whole street of houses in a new estate. It was cheaper, easier and quicker to do it that way than go down the Eastenders route of building a street and sets
the pic was taken last autumn and no one is sure what will happen to the character houses as they were rearranged inside to accommodate camera cables, etc.
The internal walls were also removed between bedrooms and replaced with backless wardrobes to allow for filming in them, IE the crew would be in one room filming through to the other room.
the first three houses, off right, are a block of three used as editing, wardrobe, make up etc so they will need a lot of work to bring them back to residential use, the fourth house, just visible on the right was the canteen. there are two more houses off left which were used as production offices so may be livable.
no one is entirely sure what will happen to them though
Is it publicly accessible like the towpath next to the (former) Big Breakfast House, or is there a security barrier/checkpoint
to prevent scouse chavs causing a similar fate that befell the (former) Big Breakfast House back in November 2002?

AFAIK after the fire it was bought privately and turned into a home...although recently the house's future has been brought into doubt as it's on the edge of the compulsary purchase zone for the main Olympic Stadium for 2012, you can probably find more out at http://go.to/bowlocks though.

Before the arson attack Channel 4 was hoping to get around £1million for it's sale. It eventually sold for about 40% less.
Since then, the owners have completely repaired and renovated it. They've kept a ten foot barbed wire topped security
fence attached to the old white picket fence, to prevent East End chav thugs getting in and wrecking the place again.
"The Cottage" as it's now known, is a residential property. The owners even lived in part of it during the repair work.
Meanwhile, back on topic ... here's a birds eye view of Brookside Close . . .
