Claudia Christian (ex-Babylon 5) must be really short of work nowadays to appear in this...
Seriously though, its not that bad - the constant flipping does annoy me, though maybe this is someone satirising how we watch rolling news channels? The BBC and ITV spoofs are fairly obvious (and the ITV one is probably the best segment, especially the "Standing News") but some of the others feel more obsecure.
I thought last night's was much better than the one the week before as there wasn't as much channel changing and the stories didn't really drag. Considering that the missing island was outrageous enough, and the serious way it was reported made it more humerous, not to mention the excellent portrayal of the regional news in Look Out East. I think this works because there is a deadly serious news story, with the typical questions, then there is something completely pointless, like the ugly teachers, and the banter with the weather forecaster works brillaintly as well. I'm not sure what it is like compared to Look East but is very similar to Look North in Yorks and Lincs with Peter Levy.
Does anyone think any of the spoofs are based specifically on any currently available news programmes?
I feel the Richard Pritchard and Katie Tate pairing are in the ITV news vein.
And of course 15 Seconds = BBC 3's 60 Seconds.
I ask because I can see some others but not a spoof of Sky News, which surprises me and makes me wonder if I'm missing it.
So News is a merging of the (much missed) Liquid News and GMTVs Entertainment show.
And Sumit Bose - ex 60 Seconds presenter - popped up in both weeks. He currently presents Inside Out for BBC London.
Much much better this week. I watched it on iMP and had to rewind it a few times and I was laughing. My favourite was the breakfast style walkabout in the house - the repetition when she was looking for the girl and the massivly long and detailed intro for the man outside were brilliant.
Plus of course
"I'm not him I'm just standing here"
"Gnags of teenage hoodies..."
"keep drinking the wine fellas"
Also notice that 15 seconds was only 11 seconds long - the average attention span.
Yep - the walk and talk where nobody but the reporter gets to say anything, and contributors are "planted" to be met by the reporter as they walk was priceless.
The only downside was that the actress is also a major character in Spooks - and though her performance was excellent (as it is in Spooks) - I think she's just that bit too well known?

I knew I recognised her from somewhere! Obviously it was from Spooks.
