I think that those inside the industry will have found in funnier than the "general public" ... it has been very well observed ... I actually found the traffic very funny but that's because it is such a piss take of the BBC London breakfast travel which if you don't see you won't get. Loved the ITV assault course ... and the pointless live two-way with the correspondent - only for the sat to go down when the doctor appeared and as I get Look East the Look Out East was very near the mark .. and I laughed out loud with the random words on the BBC News style "big board" explainer. It's not The Day Today but I like it - if only to spot the appearances by the likes of Rob Butler and Sumit Bose.

All round a great concept, and generally well-realised.
Agreed the coming up/recap element was hilarious, as was the ITV obstacle course. Only thing was I think they could have hammed it up a lot more - it would have been so funny if she had continued walking up and down and around, or maybe had trouble walking in her heels.
Alos more emphasis on the mechanics of presentation would be good, playing around with vision moxing a lot more, and graphics and camera movement.
Lokks promising though - love the duplication of greetings and links, handing back to the studio etc - all rightly making a farce of what is only too often a farce in real life.

So News was a great rip-off of Liquid (even down to a presenter called Claudia) - and the 60 Seconds rip-off was spot on as well.
It wasn't all laugh-out-loud, though the channel that was all still-to-comes was very near the mark, and the stand up news with the presenter walking around for no reason was SO ITV News.
Look Out East was VERY close to Look East (even down to the camera wobbles) circa 1995. The perspex city scape, the lens-based titles etc.
I enjoyed it - but it wasn't The Day Today.
(Apparently the graphics were created by BBC News using the same kit used for News 24's on-screen graphics)

Very very good!
When she went trotting around the stage in front of the news wall on the obvious take off of ITV News for 'Standing News' I fell about, and then she looked up at the giant legs!
Also the local 'Look Out East!' was hilarious when he did that settling down and started the sentence with 'Now...' as all local news presenters do, usually followed by '...when was the last time you...'
But to me the cleverest observation was the guy standing in Greece waiting for the news conference talking about what they were expecting the announcement that the were expecting to be announced would be!

oh yes and the spinning business news graphics - and then the actual screen spins round. fab.
it is a very niche comedy isn't it
my dad hated it - he thought it was childish and purile. although he recognised the vile purile descriptions from the film guy as being based on jonathan ross.

Aside from ITV being an obvious target, is there perhaps also an element of the BBC sneakily getting one in on ITV?
The Greek reporter was hilarious - he encapsulated what I think is the very worst aspect of rolling news: reporters babbling away in a mind-numbing fashion on utterly ridiculous content, despertalty filling in time.
A couple of stupid newsreader questions wouldn't have gone amiss either

The amount of humorous detail on some of the graphics was amazing - the company names on the business channel for example and Descartes being listed alongside Wayne Rooney in the sports channel.

you found "and when you say we don't know anything - what exactly is it that we don't know?" a sensible question did you?
that was the most accurately observed bit though. the whole drivvel he talked while stupid was so accurate.
I hope they get what Bill and Sian mentioned this morning - the shot of the empty mic stand with the "and we're waiting for someone to stand ehre soon" thing.

I really wanted to like it... but couldn't. Well observed, but all far, far too obvious - and not nearly enough good jokes.
I'll try again next week - maybe I was just in the wrong frame of mind. I feel slightly more positively towards the show having read this thread than before.

It wasn't too bad, but when you compare it to how lovingly crafted The Day Today was, it looks like it was made in an afternoon.
Also, they nicked Chris Morris' trademark frozen urine thing.
