Today marked another milestone for Broadcasting House - our first live TV broadcast from the new building. Here's the BBC Russian bulletin which went out at 1500BST -

Lovely. That space looks great. I suppose that will be adaptable to whichever language service wants to use it. Really liked the little gadget they used to explore the building. I bet they had lots of fun flying it!

It's only a small and basic space but the glimpse through to the main atrium looks superb, very nice altogether. Notice there's some overlap on the video of a static graphic, you can hear cheering and clapping after they finish the first bulletin from there Smile

Don't know where the bulletins came from before (looks like the same space as BBC Persian?) but looks like this was the last bulletin from there. Don't speak a word of Russian but that newsreader seems dreadful, might be excellent for all I know Laughing

The new set does look great. It will be interesting to see the long term effect of integrating world service language services with the rest of news. On the basis that more TV bulletins such as this will be made in the coming years that could add an interesting dynamic to the studio rotas. Maybe more studios to meet new language services in say ten years time?

Secondary set being used for Match of the Day on 30th April according to @stuart_earl

He's also posted that CBeebies were using the studio Sport usually use so it wasn't available for the extra MOTD - so presumably unlike when they had TC5 the set gets struck and rebuilt when needed. That gallery can run both of the Sport News sets.

That looks keyed to me. Definitely not BBC Persian.

Why couldn't cBeebies operate from usual home? There are a few more of other studios in the block they could have used surely?

Also, which studio is Dragon's Den using to film in Salford? HQ1?

Do we know that CBeebies wasn't in its usual home? AIUI the BBC Sport studio in the Peel block is now set & strike - so other customers can use the studio when BBC Sport haven't booked it (i.e. no permanent buy out as was the case at TVC)

Love that set, wish it would be used for some BBC World bulletins. Also nice mini tour of the building, it looks lovely.

You have seen the proposed set design for BBC World News, haven't you?

It was CBeebies Justin's House that was using the studio and it seemed more cost effective it appears to make use of the secondary set in the BBC Sport Centre.

I'm looking forward to the first General Election from Broadcasting House. I expect they could do something impressive in that space. Jumping from set to set for Paxman interviews, count updates, news updates, etc...
