Going slightly OT here, but the plans have been revealed for the Quay Street site when ITV moves to Salford Quays....

Basically the main studio complex will have gone, but the bonded warehouse will convert into apartments with the area surrounding being an 'open space for families'.

Never saw it before, but you can definitely see the shape of the glass box that is Studio E in the background, and the view onto the newsroom.
Not sure I like it, seems like a lot of the view will be blocked with bits of set.
Also, what are the screens to the sides of the main desk - a return to the cool, but washed out, rear projection efforts when News 24 was in N8?
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions about which studio and set are which. The 4-wall studios (as opposed to the newsroom studio) will almost certainly be able to have an element of 'projected newsroom' - just as the studios in TVC and most regions (though some are light boxes) have now.
Also - there are additional production areas that aren't 'main studios' dotted around the operation AIUI - for things like the BBC Three bulletins.

Are there any details of the schedule to depart the Quay Street site? All we've really heard is that the new complex
at Trafford Wharf is likely to be completed sometime in 2013, and ITV would move there shortly after. The above
article suggests ITV are moving out of Quay Street sometime later this year.
I might've known the old Bonded Warehouse would eventually become another block of overpriced posh flats!

What Manchester really needs is a PARK.
You know, trees, grass... hell, maybe even some swings and benches. It'd be a million times cheaper than that soulless rubbish they're proposing for the old site.

Manchester has quite a few parks and one of the biggest in Europe, namely Heaton Park!
Here a great idea for the old Granada lot.... how about creating a TV-themed Theme Park. Ooops already been that and was popular so they closed it!

Agreed there, not enough greenery in Manchester - It'd be a lovely park

I was in NBH today and was wondering why some nutter was standing on a table waving an iPhone about, I now have my answer. Why wasn't he using an access tower? Health and Safety nightmare it was!
Anyway here is what you get when you wave an iPhone about properly in the newsroom. Not my work BTW, and it's several months old - but still very cool.

No you've missed my point... Studio E is full of cardboard boxes.

That's the new set. Matthew will set on a slightly bigger one than Jane.
