Broadcasting House in London: one of the wings is to be re-named after the late John Peel. It will become The Peel Wing.
Top decision.

Yep, very nice gesture. It's the Egton wing that's being renamed.

A nice gesture but a shame the BBC didn't seem to appreciate him as much when he was alive

Is it just me that finds this infinitely nicer, sleeker and modern than the tacky 90s monstrosity they actually built in HQ5!

Totally agree. As I posted in the newsroom thread regarding it, it is a shame that they didn't look to a design similar to this when relocating to Media City, rather than create another Barco wall to keep the set looking dated.

There was another fire alarm during Richard Bacon's show on Thursday, and now Football Focus has just been interrupted. Happening a little bit too often!

I think somebody has been playing with the fire alarm systems at Quay House, evacuated again this morning bringing 5Live and Radio Manchester off air for a brief period.

Indeed - it seemed like a pre-evacuation warning on Football Focus: the announcement ending 'please wait for further instruction'.
That said, it was loud and interrupted the show quite badly during the start of a discussion bit, so they then went into another VT a lot quicker than expected - and never returned to the North East derby topic.
C'mon facilities team - sort it out!
